Title: Where can I find or how can I make a black dot cursor?
Post by: Otto on January 30, 2008, 05:17:08 pm
All I want is a plain black dot as a cursor, so it won't show up when my front end is loading. I read about 50 other threads and I read the wiki. Most have said they use a black dot, but nobody posted HOW they got one or where they found it. I don't want to install any extra apps on my system that are going to inject a bunch of stuff throughout my registry, so they will hide cursors at certain times or whatever. It seems that all I need is a plain black dot as a .cur file. I found an app called "Icon Shop" that is a very small free executable that will export bmp files as .cur files, but all the cursors come out transparent...meaning they change color so you can see what's behind it (they appear white on black backgrounds and black on white background). I don't know why I'm having such a hard time figuring this out, it seems pretty basic.

Thanks for any help.

OK I guess I finally figured it out. I found a program called "Randy's Freeware Icon Editor" which is a single executable that lets you create icons and select the color to use for transparency. Then I used the other free program called "Icon Shop" which will let you export icons as cursors (are they even any different?). So now I have a small black circle that STAYS black when it is over a black background. I have attached it below, hope it works for you too.
