Title: Anyone else own Modern PACHINKO?
Post by: RayB on December 26, 2007, 07:15:40 pm
Got this for christmas.
It's "Monster Village", an authentic pachinko machine from Japan.

Unfortunately, Youtube stretched my videos:

bumped to see who else owns these...

Traditional pachinko seems a bit boring, but these modern ones, with lights, themes and video screens are pretty damn cool. I'll probably be buying 2 or 3 more. :-)

Who else here owns some?  If there's enough, I'd like to petition saint to add a forum. ;)

I've got traditional, not newer, but I do think they're pretty cool.  I know stingray and kevin steele both have pachinkos.  Not sure who else.

You should check out pachitalk if you've not already.  Forums dedicated to pachinkos and pachislos:

The newer ones are beyond worthless once rotated out of parlors.  The dealers in the US have a cost of $25-50 shipped on them.

If you pay more than $100, you paid too much.
It's worth whatever people are willing to pay for one. That's how free markets work. Anything bought in bulk or at auctions is obviously going to be cheap for the dealer.  ;)

(Try importing just ONE from Japan though, and see what that costs. These things weigh 40-50 lbs, and measure 32" tall. You'd then have to buy a step down transformer and install that, as well as buy or build a card-reader bypass dongle, and at least 500 balls. I don't think $150 is unreasonable for a machine that has all this, 2 gb of ROM data, a high res LCD screen, and reconditioned to look like new).

Hey ... PBJ wouldn't walk through a park to see a topless girl ... I'm not taking much of his advice seriously ...

I've never had much interest in Pachinko, but maybe I'll have another look. I have a Pachislo and like it well enough that my "Vegas" slot machine project isn't getting a whole lot of attention.

Doesn't Japan work off nearly the same voltages that we do?  I have never had to buy alternate transformers for any Japanese consoles I have had.

I saw one at a yard sale last year that was a couple of years older than that... big, commerical machine, did have an LCD screen but not as big a light show.  That guy wanted $150 for it, though.  We don't get much Japanese stuff on the east coast.

These machines run off 24 volts.  If you plug one in without the transformer, you can kiss it good bye.

Don't get suckered into paying a lot for these.  I used to get the old ones at garage sales in California for less than $10!  :D

The newer ones are beyond worthless once rotated out of parlors.  The dealers in the US have a cost of $25-50 shipped on them.

If you pay more than $100, you paid too much.

Any gaming machine with blinking lights, enough noise to annoy the significant other, and that keeps its user amused for even a short period of time is NOT worthless.

Good luck finding any Pachinko in the U.S. for less than $10 in today's market.

Go peddle that B.S. someplace else.

I also have a nice kaiji pachislo, both video and regular reels on it, fun stuff!

There is a cool star wars one i saw a while back that has an LCD screen, it's the classic 3 movies one. I would really like that, it's just finding somewhere to put it. I have only played the couple of video ones that are in mame and i found those to be really enjoyable so i figure and actual machine can only be even better.
