Things were a lot easier with a regular cabinet and a 25" Sony TV :) I am thinking of purchasing a showcase cab from mameroom, I have always wanted one, but I am concerned about video.
Seems like a lot of what I am reading while searching here is that 33" Arcade Monitors are hard to come by and aren't the best value anymore. What do you guys suggest for a showcase cabinet? Can a 33ish" TV be used in a showcase cab? I don't want to de-case a TV, too dangerous, I am not experienced enough for it. My machine will be used for Mame, Daphne, etc... not too sure about consoles yet, strictly PC stuff at this point.
What are my options?

If you're looking for a standard res arcade monitor, Nieman Displays has a 32" one:

I've heard nothing but good things about them.
Arcade monitors were never really the "best value" display in the MAME cab realm. But you aren't going to get a more authentic picture than with one, so it really depends on what's important to you.

I'm not all about authentic, my last cab had a TV in it and I loved it... So I assume a 33ish" Tube will be fine for the showcase, just a matter of... will it fit or does it *have* to come out of the case.

Well, yeah I'm not sure what you're asking then. It's a simple matter of will the TV fit in your showcase cabinet. Do you have the dimensions of the monitor area?

I sent an email to mameroom asking if a TV will fit in their showcase dimensions... I figured I would ask here if it would in case anyone had one.... or to find out what everyone who has a showcase is using :)
Looking at the instructions, you would think the showcase cab only fits an arcade monitor that does not have casing.

From the PDF, it certainly doesn't look like a TV would fit in there, but I can't imagine it would be too hard to modify it to fit a TV if you were building it yourself from plans.

mine has a 39" WG K7600 but it is a real dynamo showcase.
for a cheap solution I would suggest a gateway destination DL-31 or possibly a DL-33 if it will fit they are VGA max res. 800X600
good all around display for all as long as they will fit.
craigslist sometimes have them $50.00-$100.00.

I have a real showcase cabinet. I used a 36" Gateway destination, simply because I wanted the VGA interface. I decased it and swapped out the original medium resolution monitor. It was real easy and not as dangerous as people lead everyone to believe.
It never would have fit still in the case. Plus it looks original.

if mine ever goes I would use one also there good and affordable compared to finding a direct replacement.
