it has called mi attention to build a bartop cab with a turning monitor, however,I'm one of those hard headed guys that need some detailed explanation on things, i read daoldman thread about hes rotating monitor http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=72750.0 (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=72750.0)and to be honest , for me, its way to much info, i get lost, don't get me wrong, hes doing an excellent job, what i try to say is , what if we can work on a tutorial on the easyest way to set up a turning monitor.
Any volunteers?

I'll be putting something together (eventually) regarding the physical construction part. As for the software and getting MaLa or something to rotate it automatically based on the game chosen.... I'll work through it when I get that far but I honestly have no idea how.

about the construction part , that would be awesome, Cu's i don't have a problem just setting up Mala for horizontal games, and Mame to rotate automatically, once i chose a vertical game , maybe pressing a button to just rotate the monitor.

When I build my rotating monitor setup, I want to have the monitor rotation seamlessly integrated into the game selection like others around here have recently done. I don't think I want to have a separate "rotate monitor button" on the CP or anything like that. The woodworking part shouldn't be that difficult for me but I'm going to try and learn something completely out of my league with the circuits and voltage and relays, etc. that make zero sense to me at the moment... wiring my first CP was a minor miracle to me at the time (even though I find it simple now).

Rotating monitors seems to be the in thing at the moment... there are more and more projects being announced with rotating monitors.
There already is and should be more awesome information available on all aspects of constructing and automating a rotating monitor setup.
Eventually it will all be complied. Just remember, there is no one "correct" way to do things.
Rotating monitor bartop... NOW that's ambitious!! I thought I was pushing it trying to squeeze it into a lowboy :P Good luck, we'll be watching.

Sorry about the "too much info". I think you are right, but I am trying to keep a step by step layout of how I am doing it, but that is probably not be the right way for everyone.
I still think using relays would be the simplest way to go, but Koz319 posted his way of using the H drive, and I decided to go that way.
I will try to keep my nose out of this thread (and thats very hard for me to do :blah: )
But if you have any questions about how I am doing mine, please feel free to ask.
Good luck on your monitor rotation project, and I will be watching, (I get most my ideas that way!)

I will be hitting you up for all sorts of info. ;D It will be like trying to explain to a 2 year old that 1+1=2 when there's really no simpler way to explain it but they still don't get it and you want to bounce them off of every wall in the room.

Be glad to help anyway I can. I think that is the reason for this board, to help each other..
I thought 1+1 = 1 ??????????????????
(Oops, Im thinking in binary again!)
