Title: How to clean buttons
Post by: shilmover on November 23, 2007, 06:53:53 pm
Hi all,

I just bought a large number of buttons and while they are fairly clean, I would like to make sure they are super clean (my kids will be playing with them...   ;)).

Does anyone have a recommendation on how to clean them?  They are the Nintendo Donkey Kong type.

Leaf switch type?

But generally.... disassemble, good ol' soap and water.

That's what they're called!   :P  (sorry, new to the hobby).

To disassemble, I just need to remove the C-clip?

Yeah, I was just curious if you had the orignal style buttons in there and not the standard cherry switch type.

There should be a metal nut for removing the "leaf switch" part from the bottom.
And then there is an "E" or "C" clip ( I forget which) that will allow you to seperate the plastic button assembly and spring apart.

That's them.  On my DK Jr, they have the metal bracket that holds the cherry switch (although what I have in quantity are the buttons with the metal nut.
