I assumed all wired 360 controllers had a USB connector. Obviously, I was mistaken.
Any ideas?

It is just missing the break-away cable.
I dunno if you can buy extras in retail stores, like you could the original Xbox, but you can probably find some online.
If you don't want to spend any more money, you could just splice a USB plug onto it.

Yeah, its a break-away, Ive got a controller made by pelican that has the same connection.
I dont know why MS didnt put the break-away back on the 360, that pelican has saved me from breaking something more than once already. I actually use it more than my MS wireless controller...

Huh? The break-away IS on the Xbox 360 official wired controller.

Oh, i must have missed it, i had bought an MS controller but the wire had a short in it and kept powering on and off, so i took it back and they only had the 3rd party left.

Yep, break away cable. I kept pulling out the cord for the gh2 controller.
