What do you think is the best way to get rid of screen tearing?
Also I have about three or four different ini's I use for say Vertical 80's games, Blown out 90/2000's games like SF3, and classics like Robotron. I have been researching how to create lots of ini's all at once for the individual games and I think I have the answer, but is there a version of MAME where you can do on the fly ini creation or switch from D3D to DDRAW without having to exit the game then create an ini, find out the name of the rom, drop it in the ini folder etc etc. It would be great to be able to start a game, realize which ini would be the best and then change that on the fly with the TAB menu, anything like that out there?

I use triplebuffer and that eliminates screen tearing.
-
Yeah but then I get sound studdering.
-
What are your system specs and which version of MAME are you running?
-
its a dog on the system, but the reason for the studder can be a couple of things, your system specs are low...or the games aren't displaying in the correct resolution, for instance if you try and run street fighter 2 with defualt mame settings no switching the resolutions in the options you might get some studdering (triple buffer on). or you can modify the games ini in the ini folder (sf2.ini) to display a lower res for instance no Hwstretch and 352x256 and the game won't studder and there's no tear. Remember to have the switching resolutions turned on in the mame.ini file. It worked for me and some games you have to play around with the res. Specs?

My specs are pretty gooo, Anthalon64 3800, gig of ram, running MAME 1.09........I will try the switch rez.

Hey!
If u use mame32plus from http://mame.emu-zone.org/ then u can change the settings for each game separately...
U just right click on a game name in mame32plus and u can change the settings for that game and it won't change it for another game.
If u want to use mame32plus in mamewah than read this toppic : http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=72239.0
Good luck,
Hans.

Where in the MAME ini would I put the line to force a resolution with Switch Rez enabled ofcourse, Would I just put a line in anywhere in mame.ini with : resolution 700X640???? Thats the lowest resolution that fills the screen on my TV, I have been trying to get it down to the preffered Rez of 640X432 for some time to no avail, gonna stick with the 700X640 for most games, but I would like to force different resolutions for Robotron to get it as close to the original dimensions as possible,

what you do is put 1 next to switch res, then in the ini folder there's going to be for instance robotron.ini, open it up and you can set the resolution for that specific game. Mind you, your going to download a ini tool that creates a folder with all the ini's for each game http://www.ultimarc.com/avgainst.html program is call avres, or you can create your own. you reads now
