I just found they're site for the first time today. I had no idea they where still around! They even take mame high scores. Now if I could just beat that Robotron world record ;D
Either way, they will take any score no matter what it is.. Seems kind of wierd that way. Getting your name listed for a 1000 points on pac-man?? Come on. Either way I suppose its one way to get your name listed in Video game history. :)
There's also a mame tournament in case anyone didnt know:

and here's TG site: http://www.twingalaxies.com

Come on, now, just because we build arcade machines doesn't mean we're iron gamer freaks like Billy Mitchell :o

Hee hee. Billy Mitchell. I have read that he doesn't use patterns, but how can you not use patterns on Pac-Man? Especially once the ghosts stop turning and Pac-Man slows down. And how can you get every ghost every time without doing each level the same way each time?
I have a nice speed up Pac-Man pattern developed that works (with mild modifications on each level to maximize ghosts eaten), from the second level up to the 9th key. I need to make some adjustments to it before I "publish" it, because right now it only eats one bonus fruit per level instead of two.
I also had some pretty decent Pac-Man Plus patterns going for a while, but I never wrote them down, and thus eventually forgot them. You can make patterns for Plus, as long as you don't eat any fruits or power pellets as a part of you pattern. For a while I was better at Pac-Plus than I was a standard Pac-Man.
But, I am not going to kid myself by believing that I could ever hold the record for one of the Pac games.
I am thinking about shooting for the records in some of the brutally hard early Sega games, specifically Up n' Down and Super Zaxxon. Doesn't seem to be a lot of interest in those, and the posted scores seem reachable, if I were to practice ALOT.
I used to get some Top Skater scores that beat the posted records, but that was back when you could still find a Top Skater with a good working board/troller on it. I can't even get close to my old scores on the beat up machines I encounter now.

is there a site that has the pac-man patterns posted? When I was 15, way back in 1985, I got a book with thte pac-man patterns in it from my parents. I was stoked! Those really improve scores!
;)

I have a book: Scoring Big at PACMAN that has a few patterns in it. Maybe I can scan them, and post them somewhere. I havent found any sites with patterns though.

hi paigeoliver
well.... I've read that some guy already got the HIGHEST possible score for Ms Pacman.... he's like standing there for like 6 hrs.... finished 255 levels ?? (I think... I forgot... the article stated clearly...) ate ALL ghost on ALL power dots... ALL fruits.... well... basically... HIGHEST possible score that is....
I don't think I lasted 10 stages in any of the pac games... lol.... :P

Billy Mitchell is the one who did that (first one at least, I think someone else has done it now too).
Eating ALL the ghosts isn't as hard of a task as it seems at first. The ghosts only turn blue for the first 20 levels or so. After that you can't eat any of them. Then you just have to worry about not getting eaten yourself.

Yeah, I don't think it's possible to beat Pac-Man perfectly without patterns.. aside from the speed issue, the ghosts can corner you rather quickly and often do in the higher levels.
Oh, well, keeps me coming back for more, anyways.
As far as the high score thing, it's all good I guess (as long as you got the fresh mullet kickin' 8))..

if anyones still looking for Pacman patterns, theres a few here: http://www.hanaho.com/pacman/ (http://www.hanaho.com/pacman/)
have fun
:P

When I first found out that little old Pacman needed a playing guide I thought it was a joke, but then I found http://www.mameworld.net/pacman/ (http://www.mameworld.net/pacman/)
As far as submitting scores to twin galaxies goes, well lets just say I don't have much time to practice anymore. When I do play it's for fun and relaxation - there's less pressure and motivation to strive when you have infinite credits after all!
(Unless your mates got top score at your house, in which case it's WAR!)
