Title: Control Panel Help
Post by: talon006 on October 15, 2007, 11:20:37 pm
Alrightyo
I have been preparing and preparing for the coming glorious day, and i am so so close. I'm ALMOST ready to start building my very first arcade cabinet. i have ALL the dimension, ALL the schematics, I have everything bought (short of wood) and all the tools ready. But just now i realized a problem

My problem is that I'm not sure what to do with the control panel, and i was wondering if anyone could answer a couple of questions

1 - I wanted to make the joysticks a bottom mount, but a couple of my buttons don't go as deep (if i wanted to push it 3/4' instead of the usual 1'), how this does the control panel have to be to carry 2 joysticks, 2 spinners, and about 18 buttons?

2 - Ive seen a few templates for buttons and joysticks, but does anyone know of any for the TokenTop spinners?

3 - Are there any control panel artwork makers? something that would let me set my own buttons and move lettering and stuff, i know this is kind of a long shot, but it does not seem like it would be to difficult to make, and would be really awesome

Thanks in advance

1. usually 1/8" thick metal or 3/4" with countertop laminate "formica" or 5/8" with 1/8" plexi.

2. spinner hole is made with a drill but some spinners do not fit in anything but metal cp's.

3. check the artwork forums in the links above.

1 - Thanks, i should be able to get that to work
2 - Has anyone else gotten one of these? im REALLY hoping i just didnt buy useless spinners. theyre Tokentops from groovy game gear.
3 - After searching and searching, i think i have what im going to use, but im not to worried right now, im already broke with the parts and everything.

The Turbo Twist 2 spinner w/ token top from GGG is one of the most popular right now.  It fits a button hole so the template shouldn't be anything special.
