Title: Subwoofers for Arcade Cabinet ? ?
Post by: liche on October 15, 2007, 05:43:12 pm
Based on your experience, what type of subwoofers work best for installation directly inside the arcade cabinet (no enclosure other than the arcade cabinet)

I'll be running this from a 70W car amplifier along with a pair of component speakers which will be installed above the monitor.

I know infinite baffle type speakers don't require an enclosure, but an arcade cabinet might act like an enclosure somewhat, so a standard subwoofer might work.

Any thought?

Thanks
Dan

I would like to hear more about this as well as I am planning on doing the exact same thing.  I want my house to rumble when my ship explodes in Asteroids.

divemaster sells sheilded arcade speakers in the bst forum.

if you mean actual car sub's with deep bass.

monitors dont like big exposed magnets.

also the monitor neck and chassis boards and some other fragile parts are not meant to be vibrated constantly either.

get this one..cheap and works great and you can just stick the the speaker wires on the subwoofer and comes with a wireless remote.
