Hey Guys Well I This will be my second arcade. The first was Huge!! http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=55507.0 I had to get rid of it to our 1800 SF townhouse house and new child. As I started to design the new arcade on this forum http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=56860.0.
After having another little addition to the family I realized that this project would be delayed too large again. Now that things have settled down a bit I will attempt this arcade construction thing again!!
Attached are the 3d renders of what the cabinet should look like when complete. I still want to add pinball side buttons and an act labs light gun, disassemble it, and paint _or laminate) it orange to match my arcade theme. The arcade’s theme is dedicated to arcade shooters.
What’s not shown is the light gun, the side buttons and the final marquee and bezel design. It’s in the r and d phase.
Below find my estimated cost list. I will begin construction in about 1-1/2 - 2-1/2 weeks once I have the peripherals and design finalized
Oh,
Will the I Pac 4 support a USB spinner and USB track ball in addition to my standard buttons??
Why MaLa over MameWah if im not using led’s or fancy lights on my cp???

If you get a USB spinner/trackball the support for buttons is on the interface that comes with the spinner/trackball such as the optiwiz or optipac. This means buttons do not need to go to your ipac4. The ipac4 itself does not have any spinner/trackball support. The minipac however does have spinner/trackball support.

But he Minipac does not support 56 buttons right?? So I will be ok with am i-pac 4 as long as i have enough usb inputs on the computer for a trackball and spinner, and a single act labs gun??......

Looks good! One suggestion: I would take the multi-"uplighting" effect off the marquee though. It'll make your marquee look wavy when it's lit, and nothing beats a smooth, evenly lit marquee IMHO.

I really like the custom art bezel. Don't see that on here all that much.
Good luck with your project.

I began the mamewah layout. Ive noticed that there are many issues with the current version of mamewah. I will explore the MALA route as far as a front end goes in the near future...........

I have been still finalizing the planning stages of the cabinet as well as the mala screens. These still are in the design development stages, but which one do you all like best so far??
I appreciate you feedback...

Here is a view with the bezel art to get a better idea of how it looks together...
-
Looks pretty cool! Are you going to use the gun to select games?

Mark,
The screens look good, but the bottom rectangles need to be fixed.
Did you create this in Illustrator?
It looks like you created the top rectangle with the rounded rectangle tool.
You then stretched the bottom ones and the corners are now distorted.
The way to fix this is to use exact numbers.
When you select the rounded rectangle tool, do not click and drag.
Click on the screen once, a dialog box will appear asking for Width, Height and Corner Radius.
Try different Widths until you find one you like.
Than just change the height to create the lower rectangles.
Maybe you know how to do this, just thought it is a good tip.

How wide is the cab going to be? I'm finally at the control panel creation portion of my Galaxian Mame conversion, which is 23" and some change.. and had to ditch any buttons on the player 2 side due to the 2.25" trackball. I was the last person who wanted to admit defeat, so I'm extending the "maybe reconsider" if you're cab is small warning. After all, you want it playable.
On a positive note, I like the overall look and design you are "shooting" for :laugh2: umm.. no pun intended, it's cool.

No but I like that idea as a second option!!

Hey CSA, Well the cab is approx...32" wide by 27" deep. You can see the attached rough plans below with the height and other dims there. Once I complete the shop drawings I will post them if anyone request it.....

Any chance you have a picture of the happs guns you want to use? preferabley on the inside? Just interested as if the optics are similar in magnification the conversion of an actlabs gun to it is easy.

I actually went to the act labs site to pull the picture and I saw this
"Warning : ACT LABS light guns will only work with CRT display (PC monitors or TV). CRT = a heavy and long tube behind the screen, it will not work with LCD, Projector, or TFT monitors /TV."
Im using a 26" samsung lcd monitor. It apprears that I will only be able to use the "TOPGUN" brand. I actually never realized that I would not be able to use the act labs brand. Well I read that the "top gun" brand was discontinued?? Am I to going to be left out in the cold because I am using an LCD??? :badmood:

I think that they are still in production. Check this link (http://www.hkems.com/product/xbox/LCDTopGun.htm).
