Title: Ms. Pacman Blue paint.
Post by: knave on August 23, 2007, 02:06:58 pm
So is there a stock color for Ms. pacman paint? A paint code?

What do you all with Ms. Pac cabs do for paint colors.

I figure I'd ask before I take my cp down and have them match the overlay.
(I'm not sure the color on the 30 year old vinyl is accurate.)

Second, what type of paint is best? Latex is so easy but I've heard that oil based is more durable.

If anyone has info on the other colors that might be helpful as well.

I took my Ms.Pac. Back door down to HD and had it scanned for color match. It is an exact match for my cab which is original and not a repaint.

Here is what I got from Home Depot for MS. PAC BLUE:

Glidden Evermore Satin - Base 2 EM 6212

Color "Rhapsody"

Mix Colorant           OZ   48  96
B    LAMP BLACK       0    3    0
D    THALO GREEN    0   29   0
E    THALO BLUE       1   31   0
KX  WHITE                0    9    0

Thanks Wundercade...I feel pretty confident that I could get the right color ar HD.

I found it interesting though that after searching online I found this mixture.  All the same except for a touch more lamp black...?

Colorant OZ 48 96
Lamp Black 0 5 0
Thalo Green 0 29 0
Thalo Blue 1 31 0
White 0 9 0

Would this paint be darker? or are we talking such a slight didderence that there would be no difference?

Just curious.

I don't know how much of a difference it would make, but it would be a bit darker. It's nearly twice the amount of black added to the mix, but it's still not a massive amount. I would think it would give you a deeper hue, but it might be tough to notice the differences between them unless you set them side by side.

I have a NOS Ms. Pac CP overlay. I know some people have had that blue scanned, but it is definitely different than the cabinet's blue. I painted some transparency paper and overlaid it to the cab and it is exact. I couldn't tell where the old paint and new paint joined...it was that exact. But again, that's just my Ms. Pac. cab.

How much paint would cover a whole cab?

A gallon is more than enough. That's what I would recommend. You could probably do it with 2 quarts, but it's about the same price just to buy a gallon.

I matched my paint up @ Lowes.

Turned out great !

Here it sits next to my PAC-MAN.

Which had it's paint matched @ Lowes.
