Thanks to everyone here I was able to figure out how to get Windows to run on my 27" EYGO VGA monitor. The key was that the monitor only supports a 60hz refresh rate. That being said I know the next step is to setup Advance Mame to support this resolution. When I used the automatic configuration settings the games didn't (Pacman & Galaga) vertically fill up the monitor. I was looking at the pcsvga60.rc file and it looks like these are the settings I'd need to use-minus the ones that go above the 640x480 resolution of the monitor. After reading the information I still don't understand where to put these settings. Can anyone help me out with this???
Thanks-
Rick

I'm not an expert in this, but 60hz is the vertical refresh rate, and windows definately supports this. Your problem is with the horizontal refresh rate which is 15khz or possibly 25khz if you have a medium resolution monitor. I think the bare minimum for windows is 30khz. If you're using a j-pac (www.ultimarc.com) a trident blade 3d video card is supposedly supposed to allow you to run windows.
Hope that helps

I never touch any of the files themselves with advmame.
I just pull up the menu in game with the Tab key, go into video settings & pick a resolution & scaling option that works for that game size then save it for all games that size & it usually works pretty good.
