Welp...it's a busy weekend/week for me. The arcade gods have smiled upon me something fierce. First off, I scored a 2 cabinet deal for $375. The first cabinet I picked up yesterday...it's a Rampage: World Tour in pretty damn spanky condition. Monitor is EXCELLENT with damn near ZERO burn-in. The cabinet is one heavy ass BIG MO-FO!
I also got a Primal Rage in a Dynamo cabinet with 25" monitor in the deal. I have yet to go get that...I'll pick it up sometime this week.
Finally, I just SCORED a WORKING SPACE INVADERS in what seems like GREAT CONDITION (we will see) for $150. I am picking that up today at 6:30.

Are you ever going to run out of room Frizzel?

Are you ever going to run out of room Frizzel?
I already done did run out of room! I moved my desk from the game room to the garage to make room for what I had hoped would be 3 arcade cabinets. After seeing the size of the Rampage beast, i can only fit 2 in there. WHERE IN THE HELL AM I GOING TO PUT THE LAST GAME? I may have to ditch the futon.

Since we assume your wife is moving out, start putting some in the bedroom! ;D

ditch the futon, if people wanna sit down they can play the cocktail :)

I hate to say it, but that IS next. I plan on building a small bar against the wall where the futon is and putting a couple more barstools there...making room for...ONE MORE CABINET...woot.

So what's the current total count/list for your collection? I just viewed your pics in the gallery in your sig, but it obviously is at least outdated by the three newest games.
Oh, and nice sand rail, if I didn't envy your toys before I certainly do now, Arcade cabinets are mostly just the obsession I use to tide me over while living in an apartment w/o room for toys with engines.

Welp....I got the Space Invaders. The guy selling it was clueless. It DOES have a board issue...I am getting some corruption on screen. I have yet to troubleshoot it, but on a positive note the cabinet is friggin' in GREAT condition...here are some pix ...plus a blurry pic of the screen corruption...

Anyone know where i should start re: the screen corruption?

I have a Horizontal MAME in a Bad Dudes cabinet, a Vertical MAME in a Dynamo, An Atari Cocktail MAMED and Juked, I have a 48-in-1 running only 4-way compatible (4-way & 2-way) games in a Donkey Kong Jr cabinet, I have a 60-in-1 running 8-way compatible games (8-way @ 2-way really) plus trackball in a Centipede cabinet, I have a VS Excitebike, Turbo Outrun (plus Outrun PCB on it's way), Rampage World Tour, Space Invaders, and tomorrow or the next day I get a Primal Rage in a Dynamo cabinet.

Have you thought of getting the multi kit for it?
The kit has some better error codes on post that help narrow things down.

I will be getting the multi-kit...but it seems I need to replace my ROMS first....

I must say I'm jealous. That cab looks like a picture AFTER a restoration. Arwork's intact, monitor works, hopefully the garbage onscreen is a reasonably easy fix. Despite being B/W, seeing a SI working is breathtaking.
Any idea what the Rampage cab was? It's a very odd shape. I played a lot of World Tour on Playstation-1. I think it's actually better than the original.
A 25" dynamo will always come in handy. If you decide to take Primal Rage PCB out of it, shoot me a PM. My generic JAMMA cab was originally PR.
-
It seems my problem comes down to either bad ROMS or a bad chip on the sound board (MSPAETH seems to think it's the sound card issue...and he DOES know his stuff). I am attempting to locate a known good Midway Space Invaders sound board to see what that would go for....
The cabinet is in INCREDIBLE shape for it's age. The insides were dusty but clean! I have a feeling this badboy was pretty well taken care of throughout it's almost 30 years of existence.
As for the Primal Rage, I am not sure...I found a reference to WWF written in the manual and there IS a "TECHNOS" sticker on it so I am thinking it was originally a WWF Wrestlefest or WWF Superstars at one time?!? The cabinet is odd shaped AND FRIGGIN HUGE....I had made room for 3 cabinets in anticipation of this buy...with that damn cabinet in there I can only fit 2 games...things are getting tight!

You mean kind of like THIS ONE? (http://www.arcadeflyers.com/?page=thumbs&db=videodb&id=1663) I knew I'd seen it somewhere but couldn't place it.
-
Does that make this cabinet a DEDICATED cabinet or still just some generic cab that they decided to use for Wrestlefest?
EDIT: Crow...that ISN'T the same cabinet! Very similar but not the same. There is no notch out of the back bottom part of the TOP larger portion of the cab...plus my screen is on more of an angle than that one...look at these two comparison shots:

Also, the CP in the wrestlefest pic has two angles on the front. Yours does not. Personally, I have never seen a wrestlefest in a cabinet as pictured. I have always seen them in the MK style cabinet in the wild and online.
Of course, most wrestlefest's were probably done as a conversion package.

Frizzle, you should know what I'm about to say:
Check all connections. Clean and re-connect them tightly.
Press down on all socketed chips to make sure they are in tight. Chips can come loose due to vibration during travel. Your problem COULD be the failure of a part, but it could also just be bad connection somewhere.

I already did that...even pulled all the ROM chips and cleaned the legs with fine grit sandpaper...I am going to do it all again though....JUST IN CASE.

I noticed that too. Overall, though, I'd say there are too many similarities to not be a Technos cab at least. But then you run into the issue that according to MAWS, their only 3-4 player games released were the 2 WWF games, Combat Tribes, and Double Dragon 3. AFAIK the last two were only sold as kits to convert 2-3 player games. I'm wondering if it is just a revision of what was shown on the flyer. That mostly upright screen would be trickier for 4-players to see. The pic in THIS eBAY AUCTION (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130091970455)is kind of crappy, but it seems to be remarkably similar. It definitely looks to have a more leaned back screen than the flyer shows.

I am happy to report that I have fixed the problem with the Space Invaders. After swapping all the ROMs for a known good set with no luck, I swapped the daughter board for a known good one and it worked!
The guy I got the board from wanted $40.00, but I only had $32.00 in cash on me so he took it (though I promised to pay the other $8 next time I see him).
Nice! Now to order the multi SI kit.

I finally got my digital camera back. Here is a picture of the Primal Rage I recently picked up for a steal...
...and I was BARELY able to squeeze the thing in the game room. I think I am at capacity. 9 stand ups and a cocktail is enough...right?

Don't be a fool; the couch can always go.

Don't be a fool; the couch can always go.
Actually, my wife has made it clear she wants the futon in there...
...so before it goes, the TV can be removed and an LCD added to the wall above the cocktail. After that happens, THEN the futon will go!
-
Actually, my wife has made it clear she wants the futon in there...
Beware. She's just thinking ahead to the day she banishes you to the Garage.

Shoot, I wish my wife would banish me to the garage everyonce in a while. Maybe I could then get something done out there. :laugh2:

I have seen dedicated Neo MVS cabinets that I think were exactly like that R:WT. It definitely isn't the WF, although similar.
That SI is in incredible condition! I don't think I've ever seen one that nice. Most that I see are really beat to death. Nice score!

Just checked a few, and none of the Neo Geo's I can find look like that cabinet either. :dunno

Thanks Wade. I bought the Braze Multi-Kit 9-in-1 Multi Kit for it. Now it saves High Scores and has 8 additional games that ran on this hardware...I love it. I can play SI so much better with the original button controls compared to the stick on my multigame cabinet.
