Check out Mechatron 2004! There are a lot of classic game clones and remakes out there, but this is one ... (http://arcadecontrols.com/arcade_main.php#2482)

Fan-freakin-tastic!
Robotron is probably my favorite classic and this one keeps the feel and works great on a cabinet.
A big thanks for the heads up on this one.

Check out #4 on the high scores (http://norrish.force9.co.uk/cgi-bin/robotron.exe/mecha_highscores) ;D

When ROBOCRACK isnt Enough Grab A hold of Sum Mechatron !!

How does this compare to Ultratron (http://www.arcadetown.com/ultratron/game.asp)?

No comparison, in my opinion. If you're a Robotron 2084 fan, you'll want to plan Mechatron, not Ultratron. Mechatron characters and levels are direct spinoffs of Robotron 2084, whereas Ultratron does not appear to be (I didn't play Ultratron much).

I've always considered Llamatron as the best Robotron clone...maybe until now.
Here's a nice story about it by that amazing man, Jeff Minter:

I loved Jeff's work from the moment I played "Attach of the Mutant Camels" on my Atari 8-bit.
He's a true genius IMHO.....
Any Hover Bovver fans here ? :P

Mechatron looks pretty slick.

Played Hover Bovver religiously on my commodore 64 when I was young.

This is a GREAT remake. I must have something set too easy though -- I had to quit playing with over 2 million points and 25+ men. I can only get to 400K on the real Robotron, so I'm not exactly great at it.

I think the difficulty levels off after a while. I did better on this than the real thing as well, but that may be because the action is a little smoother and the enemy fire not quite as diabolocal :)
Still a great game though...

Holy thread-necrophilia, Batman!
Sorry, but I just had to post and cry that my score was just above 911,000 when I lost 3 men within 3 seconds, bam bam bam and GAME OVER ! :hissy:
What a great remake. I play it using a Playstation 2 controller.

I was playing this one for a while too. Very fun. I had some scores up in the top 10 until the really good guys started playing.
For some reason it interprets my initials wrong. Way down in 29th now. Anyone else play 2 player games? Buddy and I noticed it crashing a lot. Doesn't happen during single player.

Is there a web link to the high scores, or just in game? I can't seem to find anything. Just curious if I'm still in there anywhere hehe.

http://norrish.force9.co.uk/robotron/. Click All Time High Scores. You're #31. :)

Thanks. Man I can't believe I didn't finish that game where I had over 2 million and 25+ men! I haven't been able to get close since. Idiot! :banghead:

You can see Mechatron in action in this video here: (about 4:15 in):

Thanks for the video. I'm planning to give Mechatron a try, and I had forgotten to give that tempest one a try too, but I need to try that too.
Hey, do I see this wall graphic on your wall?

I'm thinking about getting it when we move to a new house and have more of a dedicated game/entertainment room.

Actually, no they are different. The ones I found on the internet were WAY OVERPRICED. I ended up making my own decals. Actually, I'm in still in the process of making them. What you see on the wall are rough drafts (color laser samples) so I can get the sizing correct, etc. Then I plan to have them professionally printed onto specialized stickers that are made for paint (so they will be removable). I was thinking of selling them here on BYOAC once I finish for A LOT cheaper.

How cool! I'd definitely be interested in your DK stickers. I also liked their Super Mario Bros stickers - if you're making those too, I may be interested. Looks like you're doing Space Invaders too? That would be cool as well. Any other games? I bet you'll get plenty of interest!

Here's my full pic (still incomplete, as you can see on the right with Donkey Kong)
