Title: Arachnid Galaxy Parts
Post by: Dagoof on July 10, 2007, 02:05:44 pm
Hi everyone,

I am new to this world and have a inquiry. I have the opportunity to purchase a Galaxy (original, not the II model) but the person told me that the video doesn't work. I did some research (downloaded the manual) and was wondering if parts are still available for this model. Does anyone know of a company that might carry the PCB or the video connector?

Thank you!

Dagoof

I believe the Galaxy is the oldest game still supported by Arachnid.

Check out the tech support section of www.arachnidinc.com

Also check the archives and tech tips sections there.

Thank you Ken for the info... I went to check out three Galaxy machines at a bar looking to get rid of them. What I found, that I thought was peculiar, was that all three machines seemed to have the same issue. When we powered up the machines, none of the monitors would display anything. The owner had bought new RCA cables but that did not solve the issue. We even tried switching out monitors but to no avail. Both the upper and lower lights lit up but no display on the machines.

Any ideas? I didn't want to commit into purchasing one of these machines if I could not get a replacement part, especially since I couldn't narrow down exactly what the problem was.

You could also cheat - buy a cheap 7" b/w tv that has rca inputs. Those models usually have an rca out for an external monitor. Just route the cable inside the cabinet to the tv, and you're all set...

Hi Havok... Do you think ALL three monitors were bad? They didn't look to be in the best shape.

It's possible. If the video is not displaying, a good check is to bring a small tv and hook up the rca out to it. If you get video, then the problem is either with the internal monitor or the 12V regulator.

I forgot I had an old tv/monitor...I will take that with me and see what happens when I connect it to the machines...

I will keep you informed!

After thinking about how I am not a savvy arcade machine technician, I decided to pass on the Top Gun Machines he had for sale. I then looked at some used Galaxy II machines and I liked the color screens and the games that were available. I wasn't impressed about the price ($2500). So I went back home and did searches for Arachnid machines and guess what! I won a Black Widow machine for $1450. I hope it was worth it. I will receive it in about a week or so.
