Title: Hacking a Hori DoA 4 Stick for Xbox 360 (Making it a 4-way)
Post by: PacManess on July 08, 2007, 06:35:35 am
Hello,

I opened up a Hori Dead or Alive stick for the 360 and noticed that the stick that they used had a really small bracket piece that holds the thing together...switches and all. I was hoping to just pop in my Pac-Man 4 way leaf switch stick to make it a true 4 way experience, but that's not going to happen.

Do they sell these smaller "Japanese" sticks online? Is there another way to make it a true 4 way stick? Should I just forget it, return it to the store and concentrate on my hack (which is moving along quite nicely for a super-novice like myself I must say)?

Any suggestions and help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

wouldn't a restricter plate on top be an easier solution?

Ok, I may have something that is going to work. It does involve the restrictor, but instead of putting the plate on top, I'm going to (mostly) follow a mod I've seen on the Xbox.com forums and use a Sanwa gate in place of the generic little plastic one that comes with the stick.

In the example the author Jumpsuit used he installed an octagonal gate. I'm thinking I'll first try the 4-8 way switchable square plate. This way I can mostly leave it on Pac-Man mode for 4-way but move it if I have to. I guess we'll see how that works.
