Title: Help accessing my control board...
Post by: Nick on June 27, 2007, 03:28:38 am
Hi guys,

I am brand new to these forums. I decided to join up because they looked to me like the ultimate place for arcade related questions. Anyways, I am very new to the entire arcade field and I have a stupid question...I just recently bought my first cab and I am trying to figure out the best/easiest way to access the control panel so I can replace the joysticks/buttons. I have taken some pictures of my cab for you all to look at. Any info/help would be really appreciated. Thanks for your time.

Usually you just open up the coin door and reach up and there will be a couple of control panel latches you can flip open (generally one on each side of the control panel).

Here's a pic of the things I'm talking about, so you have an idea what I mean:

Welcome to your new addiction!

The latches are up near the control panel, and at about the center of the side. Look in there with a flashlight if in doubt, or take off the back door and investigate.

Congrats on the cab.

Ya don't be shy, just start digging into it.  That's the best way to learn.  If you're careful, you're not going to break anything.  Welcome to the board.

Thanks for the friendly and informative responses guys. I did exactly what you said and found the latches immediately. Time to dive in to it and replace those controls.  ;D

Just be sure to stay away from the monitor area if you don't know what you're doing. There's a lot of high voltage in there. Also be weary of other places in the cabinet where there could be high voltage (such as 120v lines, the same as the wall socket). You should be fine in the CP though.
