Title: best frontend to make use of a ledwiz
Post by: Hollywood on June 04, 2007, 12:59:07 am
I want to have animated and control specific lit buttons on my control panel.  I was wondering which frontend  would be the best for this.

I know Mala and atomicFE utilize the ledwiz features.  Does any of them have more features in this regard than the other one?  Are they both easy to set up?

Thanks,

Hollywood

Honestly just try 'em all   ;D  All are cool and quick to set-up but vary in small ways...

it really depends of what you want to achieve.

Mala supports LedWiz via plug'ins , there are 2 (i think) at that time .

Atomic has a native support .

Loadman maintain one of the ledwiz plug'ins for mala , and he is really reactive to help and very welcome to add new feature in his plug .  :applaud:

On Atomic, the support is advanced too , but currently i'm don't have time to implement specific features for you if you need some.  But if you need help to configure , i'm here.

I think GameEX have a LedWiz plug'in too? no?

Yes there is alot of choice for LEDWiz support these days which is really good to see. I'm a big fan of loadman and arzoo's plugin's for Mala since we all kinda worked along side each other.

GameEx has a LEDWiz plugin written by me. It will be getting an update soon and support for another hardware device (more on that in the coming weeks). I have two LEDWiz on my arcade machine and my favourite features are the speak button actions and plasma effect along with lwa animations during attract modes. Only arzoo's and mine currently support key remapping in Mame and lighting up buttons to real arcade machine button colors. I think mine is the only one currently supporting MameInterop which is another cool feature (buttons flash when you drop in coins for some games).

You can read about my CP makeover here (http://members.iinet.com.au/~freeaxs/arcade/ledwiz.htm) (which also has some videos of my LEDWiz plugin in action) and you can read more about the GameEx LEDWiz plugin here (http://www.gameex.info/forums/index.php?showtopic=3032) (which is included in the standard install of GameEx now).

Mmm I do like the 'Plasma' and the 'MameInterop'  :o

I'm currently working on the animation editor for the LEDBlinky MaLa plugin. So far the layout code is complete which lets you create a virtual representation of your control panel. The app will generate LWA files which should work for most of the LED-Wiz plugins and fe's as long as they support the standard LWZ commands.

Randy should give you some free 'Gear' for that effort.  ;)

mmmm free gear.  ;D

We've all helped to sell LEDWiz hardware by developing all this software. Of course the flip side is that without the hardware, we would never have all the cool blinking buttons!
