Title: Golden Tee Golf - Which One?
Post by: DinoRoger on April 19, 2003, 12:59:33 am
So almost every day I read a post about Golden Tee Gold.  A few people have dedicated a cab design to the game so I decided to give it a chance.  The version I have is from 1992 and MAME32 shows no ther newer versions listed.  The graphics are very bad in this version.  I know I have seen better at the local pub.  Are there other ports of Golden Te Golf than the one I have.  If so are the emulated seperatly from MAME?

There is a PC version along with add-on courses.  None of the "good" versions are emulated in MAME yet.  (At least not in the official release.)

If you want to experience Golden Tee Golf for real, I highly recommend plunking down you $4 to $5 for 18 holes at the local pub on Golden Tee Fore! 2004.  We just got the upgrade kits to 2004 here last week, and it rocks, as always.

GTG PC is basically '97 and '98 with addon courses.  Better graphics than the arcade version.

I suggest you consider the very latest PC version, and get a good arcade-style trackbal.    I have heard reports that the later PC versions are almost arcade perfect, minus the "insert coin" message.

Also, you could consider buying the Arcade PCB, but they are expensive.

FYI, I heard Aaron Giles does have a MAME driver for the later Golden Tee games, but he does not think it should be released, till golden tee is not common anymore in pubs and arcades.
