While looking through the MAME32 games available, i noticed that DANCE DANCE REVOLUTION wasN'T listed. As i have never heard of or seen this game before, i was wondering if someone could fill me in on who made it and what is it emulated on ?

Gadzooks dude, DDR is practically a phenomenon.

Didn't even know this was emulated in mame...the guys at mame documented this while it's still a hit in arcades? I think this post should be tagged on to the "hypocrasy in Mame" thread...
Anyways, If this is true...I found my next project...but where to find the rom...do I ask, or don't I? I'm gonna go for it! (bashers beware...I'm a full-member too!)
Anyone know where this sucker is? It's been awhile since I've even looked for roms...been so busy building cabs for other people, I haven't had time to play...but I'd definately take a break to shake my groove thing!

I don't see it, so the "hypocracy" sermon will have to wait, padre.

I have never played the game before but heard it is a good way to lose a few (sitting at the computer on the BTOAC forums) pounds.
I think I am going to buy this:

and

These should work together correct?

If I can get ahold of the ROM for mame to test...I want to build one of the full-scale dance platforms the arcade games have...I've already got three big pads for an electric drum kit....

Here is someone who built their own pads, but doesnt look like they are lighted.

Everything DDR (Including files for stepmania and DWI)

You can always just modify the DDR Homepad to be lit.. it's by far the best pad out there if you do it right (even the metal pads by MyMyBox and Octane are pretty damn cheap). I got a MyMyBox and am already considering just making a Homepad instead..
-
Yeah, making your own you can ensure the quality, at least to your skills.
I plan on doing a homepad but using patster's homepad style of connections (but not his lighting system).

The arcade versions of DDR are not emulated. However, there are Playstation, Playstation 2, and PC Ports of it. Also, you can buy Dance pads as well.
PSX -> USB adapters may work. Also, you may be able to play the PSX version on a PC as well, with PSXEmu, or Virtual Game Station.

Simon says that requires some quick rythm of the feet...It definately takes some talent to be good at it.
Goovey Tuesday: DDR is not emulated in Mame yet but you can find it mostly on Playstation. There are several different versions of it. When people build their own dance pads they are wiring them up to Playstations to play, which is going to give you an experience very close to the arcade versions.

DON'T LIE! You know you guys want this game in the privacy of your own home so you can wear leggings and tights, a play FLASHDANCE really loud!
;D
-
Is it me or is only Magnet_Eye mentioning Flashdance? Must like chick flicks.

I read this and thought it was funny. Then a few hours later I realized that I was in my room in my underwear playing stepmania and totally grooving out to "Its Raining Men!", which was probably worse.

If money is almost no object (if it was NO object then you would just buy a DDR cab ;))..... then take a look at the www.cobaltflux.com pads. High price, but the construction is such that it's worth the price.

It's a PS2 pad, but works with a PS2 to USB conector (only certain ones). One of the converters that works is actually shown in the upper left corner of this phote.
You can definately build your own, but this gets into the old discussion. Where is your confort zone. I'm fine with wood and electronics, but have no background or tools for working with metal. You can buy pads for less, but you will spend as much time complaining about the performance of the pad as playing. Either that or start eating into your savings as you purchase additional pads as the other ones break.
Just another option.
