Wanted to ask the pro's over here in the Monitor Forum if you know of a good and relativly cheap program or dvd to calibrate a TV for arcade use. I use a 27inch insignia running via comp dongle SD, I am unhappy with the colors, brightness, etc. I just don't think the colors are popping, and the clarity is a little blurry, also some of the colors, like Pinky in Pacman are drab. I have tweeked the service menu the regular menu and the windows display options, looking for something that will guide me through the process. :notworthy:

While a calibration would help, a TV is never going to be as vibrant or crisp as a true CRT monitor. You may already be getting the best image the TV can offer.
Saying that, I would suggest leaving the picture controls in windows alone, and just using the on-set controls. If you were to pump the colour in windows, and then on the tv, all you'll end up doing is making the colour bleed and fuzz out. If you can hook cable tv up the TV temporarily, fine tune it that way with various TV shows. Once you've got them looking as good as possible, well then you'll basically know that's the best the games will look as well.

You could get an AVIA DVD to calibrate your TV colors (check Amazon).
The Plus: you can use it to calibrate your Home Theater as well.
The Negatives: This isn't arcade specific (it's for TV watching), and if you don't have a DVD player on your computer you have to hook an external DVD player up to the same inputs your computer is using other wise it is pointless. E.g. if you're using component input for the TV, your DVD should play through the same component inputs.

Thanks for the advice, I have been tweeking the monitor setting and there is Bleeding......
One other question, I was playing Star Wars and the reds looked pink, that was really the only problem I saw, What setting would produce red to look pinkish?

Sounds like your Color pot is turned too far to one side of the spectrum. Just play with that and you should being to brings the reds back in line.
