I started my project this past weekend based on Project Arcade & Saint's book. I have a question regarding the base. The base includes 4 support pieces that measure 2 3/8" deep that create a base for the cabinet bottom. Then you are to add 3" wheels to the bottom. It seems that if you add the casters the actual supports aren't supporting anything anymore. It seems that the casters are now what supports the total weight of the cabinet since the wheels are 3" tall and the bottom supports are only 2 3/8. If you use casters, do you need to use the support pieces?

If I remember correctly, the casters go inside each corner on the base. The base is used to hide the ugly wheels.

Yes, hiding the casters is a nice thing in my opinion. You will want to use casters since it makes moving the cabinet from room to room a heck of a lot easier. I got two casters for the front which swivel in all directions and got two more fixed casters for the back which also included the brakes. I have my cabinet on tile and it does not roll around when played at all ..... but the casters are very handy when moving in out purposely.
