Title: Firefox resetting (deleting all settings, bookmarks, etc) after power outage
Post by: shardian on May 18, 2007, 08:32:26 am
Ok this is the second time I have lost ALL of my vast collection of bookmarks! The power flickered here at work, and the pc powered off and on twice. When I finally got it back up, firefox was completely reset like it had just been freshly installed. This happened about a month ago. And guess what, this NEVER happened before the screwy update was implemented approximately 2 months ago.

Has anyone else had this happen, and does anyone know if my bookmarks are recoverable? The bookmarks.html file in the profiles folder is blank-a-mondo before anyone recommends checking that.

I'd recommend backing them up from time to time with an export.

Well that don't do me any good now. Why in the world would firefox wipe out everything in the first place???

Power interruptions do nasty things in Windows.  I'd be surprised if it is only Firefox that is wonked in some way.

I believe you are right about it being windows related. I also lost settings for Azureus, which also happened to be running when the power flickered.

Oh well.
