Can someone tell me what the correct color molding is supposed to be on a Ms Pac Man cabinet? Mine has light blue molding running from top to bottom, and I have a feeling it's supposed to be black..

I've only ever seen it with black t-molding.
If yours already has light blue on it - paint the whole thing blue. You could start a new trend of black cabinets with light blue t-molding!
-
I'd only seen Ms. Pac's with black molding, also, but currently have one in the shop with blue molding. Thought it was done by someone after-market, but now I don't know. I know some of the later models in the production runs had stickered art instead of paint, so perhaps some also were tried with blue t-molding?

Yeah mine has the stickered art over particle board on the sides, and then there's the blue molding- The guy who swapped my monitor wasn't sure if it was a "real" Ms Pac or not, since there were some differences with the cab.
I guess for now I'll leave the molding blue until some more folks chime in. Thanks!

There are several runs of the Ms Pac cabinets. Some have black T molding, some have blue.

I like the light blue, myself.

the sticker run of ms pac was partical board with blue tmold.

I saw a Ms. Pac with yellow t-molding. Was this ever original or just an afterthought?
-
The original molding was the black leather finish molding, the later decal-ed side art Ms Pacs had the light blue molding. You can tell which is which because on the painted side art the ghosts have yellow in them. On the later sticker side art, the ghost is just pink and white (no yellow).
So if looking at big ghost on the sideart:
yellow/pink = black leather T-molding
white/pink = light blue t-molding
Note: I've seen Ms. Pac's with yellow t-molding and hot pink t-molding, but those are just neat custom departures from the original 2 schemes.

Wundercade, thanks for the clarification. Very helpful.

Wundercade, let me get this right...
You said there are some machines that are painted blue wood with cutout stickers applied?
If I read this right, there are 3 factory versions...
1. Painted w/ stencils
2. Painted blue w/ pac and ghost stickers over the wood
3. All vinyl complete sideart like twobits
Is that correct?

The initial runs of Mrs. Pacman's had all the art painted on, in those runs the big ghost on the sideart was Yellow and Pink, the machines had black (leather finish) t-molding.
As Ms. Pacman line was winding down, they switched to sticker art for the machines, no paint on the sides or the front...just entirely sticker from top to bottom. On these machines, the big ghost on the side-art was white and pink and the t-molding for the machine was a matching light blue. On these sticker art versions the only wood painted blue was the back of the machine and the top of the machine. The sides and front were a big sticker covering the whole area.
There are no versions from the factory that have blue painted sides with ghost stickers on them. It was one big sticker covering the entire area with all the colors and graphics on it.
The vinyl stickered machines had light blue t-molding.
The painted machines had the black leather t-molding.(twobit.com offers this original painted scheme in vinyl sticker format since he doesn't sell stencils to paint it on. So if your buying twobit's artwork, the proper molding would be black leather if you want the original configuration.)
Hope this helps.
