Title: Best way to remove sideart from a Cab. (NBA JAM TE)
Post by: steveh on May 09, 2007, 10:04:06 am
Last weekend happend to be the local " Junk Week"  Basically heavy duty pickup for spring cleaning.  As i was driving home, i saw someone throwing out a gutted NBA Jam TE cab.  I was all over it.

I have been planning a mame machine for the last 5 years.  and this summer is my plan to build one.  What luck to find this cab just laying there for the taking.

it is in very good shape, just needs some paint, and some sanding.  i will know more as i start working on it.

my question right now, what is the best way to remove this side art off of the unit?   I want it all gone, i will be painting the unit black, and adding custom side art(not sure exactly what yet)  so my first step is to get this thing cleaned up.   The last thing i want to do is damage the particle board wood behind it.

Any guidance on this would be fantastic.

Heat gun.  $20 or so at the hardware store.

A hair dryer works, but will take more time than a heat gun.

With a hair dryer you have to stop every so often or you'll burn out the motor.  They weren't designed to run continuously for the length of time it takes to strip sideart.
