http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2549771 go get one

Wow, it's still in stock many hours later. It's pretty interesting to see it go from near impossible to get online to being available this long. Could supply finally be meeting demand?
-
hehe, they seem to have run out in the past hour or so. Supply is improving but the demand is still really really high. I think it'll be another few months before you can just go to a store and find one at random sitting on the shelf.

Variable by area. We can now sometimes.

In stock again.
It shows down again at the moment.
It seems to be on and off again since Saturday night when my wife found it and ordered one for me. I'll feel better when it actually ships. Now I'm off to do research on the games!

wii sports is surprisingly fun so that will last you a while. zelda is a must and is a great game. i have red steel but dont get it, kinda sucks. i borrowed wario ware from my friend and all the reviews are saying how great it is, but id give it a C at best. maybe just not my type of game. rent that one first before getting it. ive heard madden is good and ive heard tiger woods is good if you can get used to the control scheme being like actual golf. other than that, i would get a VC controller and some wii points and that will last you till metroid comes out.

Thanks for the input, hulkster. My Wii just shipped today. I'll probably rent some games or join a service like GameFly again.
I'll probably buy Zelda before the Wii arrives!
Is getting another remote pretty important? Is the Wiiplay (or whatever it's called) game that comes with a remote worth the extra $10? I should probably take this to another thread, but the damage is done. :)

If you have young children with no gaming experience, I'd say Wii Play is a good way to teach them how to use the controller. Otherwise I'd have to say skip it. And don't forget, if you never had a GameCube, you can find some cheap used GC titles to enjoy as well.

I actually saw quite a few of them in Best Buy today in SW Ohio.
First time I've ever seen them in stock. Anywhere.
