Hi,
I just was wondering if you own a game(example robocop) on a particular system/console(other than the arcade version), does this give you the legal right to have/use or emulate the arcade version of the game?-or do you have to have the actual PCB of that game?
I'm guessing that gives you the right only on that system or console...?
sorry if this has been asked before :)

Only on that system/console.

Just to further bring the point home. Console ports of arcade games share the concept of the game only. Generally the graphics have to be re-worked/down sampled and the code completely re-written. As a matter of fact different teams work on the console version than the arcade version.
Long story short they may look similar but a port of a game is a totally different game.

To look at it another way, imagine that your question is "If I paid for a movie on videocassette, why do I also have to pay for the DVD or the novel?" Licenses to use intellectual property may specify the format, manner, platform, and venue (among other things) for use of that property. You have certain Fair Use rights as well, but this is not one of them.
IANALNDIPOOTV. YMMV.
