Title: Mame Trackball / spinner / lightgun ????'s
Post by: acro-ii on May 01, 2007, 11:20:57 pm
OK, here's my current situation. What can I do remedy the problem?

HAPPS 3" trackball using PS/2 mouse hack.
Slickstik Spinner plugged up USB
LCD Topgun plugged up USB.

Windows sees all 3.
Windows uses all 3 as a mouse.
MAME uses trackball, and spinner, but not the lightgun
If I unplug the spinner, MAME uses the trackball and lightgun
Using -verbose in mame with trackball, spinner, and lightgun shows 2 mice NOT 3.
Using -verbose in mame with trackball and lightgun shows 1 mouse, but the lightgun WILL work.
How can I get around having to unplug the spinner to use lightgun?
Why does mame not see all 3 "mice"?

Ok,

More testing.........

Mame only shows 2 mice, not 3 when trackball (ps/2), spinner (USB), and lightgun (USB) are hooked up.  When only the trackball and lightgun are hooked up, mame only shows 1 mouse.  It appears that mame isn't seeing all 3 mice, only 2 of them.  Is that strange, or what!

Are you perhaps using windows 9x?  Windows 9x doesn't let applications see non-USB mouse devices individually.  What happens if you have the spinner and lightgun connected?

WinXP should let mame see the three mouse devices individually.

win xp pro
spinner and lightgun: mame sees only spinner.

Derek from mameworld suggested to use smog's driver for the lcd togun instead of the ems drivers, because he said the ems drivers don't support multiple mice!

We'll see tonight when I get off work.

It all now works thanks to DerrickRenaud's suggestion of using SMOG's drivers for the lightgun, instead of the EMS ones!
