Maybe not a gotta-see-it-in-the-theater movie, but looks interesting to me.  Too bad it's not going to be released soon - I could use the extra inspiration for my in-the-works DL-themed cabinet...

If the get the traditional animation that they talk about it could be more than a year or two before we see this...  :(

I've never played a Dragon's Lair game (Yeah, shoot me.), but I'd pay to see it.  Always loved the Bluth style and I'd love to see a traditional animation again.  Sure, there's glaring flaws at times when stuff is done by hand, but there also seems to be a lot more personality and love from both the artists and the fans when it's done that way.

One thing bothers me though...is a Blu-Ray release really necessary?  What do I know, I'm behind on HD and the current gen of games. :dunno

Why not? Since the animation was originally created in the traditional film way, it's much higher resolution than what we saw in the arcade game. So why not see it the way would have looked on the big screen??

Well yes and no.....

The original film was produced in theater format, BUT the film had always been intended to be displayed on a ntsc television via really crappy composite in.  Because of this the resolution may be higher, but the quality of the frames don't always match it.  Basically from what I've seen is the title screen and other interface screens look much better (obviously as they were still art drawings transferred to film) and the main attract sequence looks great, but a lot of the rest of the game looks sub-hd quality, particularly certain rushed sequences.  Also like any film transfer a lot of dust and scratches were picked up.

So imho the footage actually looks better at standard def, on a standard tv, because that was how it was intended to be shown.  Showing the DL footage in hd is kinda like playing pacman on your new lcd tv... it actually ends up making the game look worse.
