Does anyone out there replace or sell LCD Screens for the Game Boy SP???
Thanks,
Ponyboy

Yep, a quick google turns up a few places. Not much cheaper than a decent used GBA, though.

Ebay:

price sucks

That's a good price. What do you expect to get a real LCD for?
-
well if it sells on the high end and shipping, you can get a used system for a tad bit more, thats all.
-
Yep, you could, with a beaten up and/or wearing out LCD.

While we're on the subject of GBA SP screens... I have a Classic NES GBA SP like the one seen HERE (http://www.x-entertainment.com/articles/0911/) and it has the older, crappier, back-lit screen that shines up from the bottom of the screen and doesn't do a very good job.
Does anyone know if the "new and improved" back-lit screens can be swapped into an SP that came with the less than desirable one that I find myself with?
-
I didn't even know there was more than one screen version in the SP.

Here's some info on it:

I can attest to what the pictures are clearly showing as my GF has the New & Improved screen and next to that the older version looks almost as bad as the original gameboy with one of those after-market bendy lights!

I can get them for much cheaper than those.
Pretty much any repair item for consoles, I can get for you guys. Always check with me first :)

And so what can you get that screen for...? I have a PC Engine GT that needs a replacement screen.
-
GBA SP replacement screen would be $23 plus shipping.
Sorry, no leads on the PC Engine GT screen.

Thanks, when I get to that project, I'll let you know. I wouldn't even try to source a GT LCD. It would be the same as a TurboExpress, but even that would be next to impossible. I'm probably going to put in a different LCD, like from the SP or a small TV, when I get to it.

Do you happen to know the answer to my question in reply #6? I am only assuming that since you have a source for the screens you've done some repairs before...
-
Unfortunately I don't know that answer. I have a NES model also that I would love to have a nicer screen on. I can't stand my SP screen, and only keep it because of the NES theme it has.
My DS gets all the play anyhow :)
