Title: What does Mame Plus! do?
Post by: shorthair on April 22, 2007, 06:25:18 pm
I looked at the features page on the site, which just shows gobbledy-gook. I'm assuming the original language is French. I understand it orginially was intended to address Unicode, but now what does it do different than Mame32?

I use it to interface with the controls.dat file.  When you "Tab" in the game you get more options and menus.  On games with controls.dat information you can see the controls for each player.  It also has history, story and some other stuff I think.  I couldn't get johnny 5 to work when I tried it so I settled on this.  I still think I'll give johnny5 or cpviewer a try on my cabinet, but for now I use plus.

It also has 'image enhancement' in the shape of HQ renders etc.

So it's just an extra's gig, it seems.

So does FX, though.

FX has way better hiscore support than plus ever had.  Thus I swapped over a month ago.

Plus also seemed slower at loading roms than other ports.  Could just be me though.   ???

Are there any special builds like these that go back to version .55?

That's the only thing. These don't seem to be archived and publicly available.
