Title: My newest toy

The dude said that he played it for 15 minutes fine, and then the monitor shut off. Then the dude lied and said that the sound and stuff was still working when the monitor shut off (he wanted me to think it would be an easy fix I guess). So, thinking it would be an easy fix, I bought it. I got it home last night and played for about 15 minutes, and boom... everything shut off. Lying bastard.     Now I am glad he lied, though. 23 seconds later, I had it fixed. The back door was loose, and it wasn't properly pressing the safety switch.   :woot  I left it running for about 2 hours with no problems. That is what liars get.  :laugh2:

Glass is in real nice shape. Monitor looks perfect. Plays perfect. It does need a little work though. Could use a new CP, and the background moon is missing. Overall, I think I did well for $200.

Side notes. I am thinking about putting that 8 in 1 multigame kit in there. Anybody besides Stingray have one of those installed? I was just wondering how the other games felt when played on the screen that has the colored overlays that were different than the originals. I doubt it will bother me much, but thought I might gather some opinions.

Also, does anyone happen to have a pic of the underside of a SI cab? There are no leg levelers on there, and I was wondering if there was originally.

I am not a fan of SI,  but a nice buy none-the-less!

For some reason my local Chuck E Cheese has one of these with a multigame in it.  At least i think its a multigame but its only two games, which doesnt seem right.  Anyway nice find.  Have you tried checking the bottom for leg holes?

I didn't see any, but it looked a little funky. I guess I'll kick it over again and take a better look, and maybe a picture or two.

Nice find.
I still get a little upset that I missed out on a free SI from my church when I first was cursed with this hobby - it got trashed BTW. :'(

Definitely upgrade the woofer.  SI and Space Duel are the two games that give you a really great improvement with a woofer upgrade.

That service switch issue is so common.  You'd be surprised how many service techs don't know you can pull the switch out to lock it in the on position as well.  Or the game just "dies" and the problem is that they broke one of the two service switches.  Happens a lot.

Nice score, that's a great cab, especially for $200.

That's the new SI/Qix combo that was released a couple years ago.

It was the 25th anniversary release, right? I saw one of these a few days ago.

Yep it thats it.  Out of all the racers it was one of 4 that had sticks.  Why did a church have a SI?

Nice addition.

I'm glad to hear that even though that guy lied about the condition, that it turned out to be an easy fix.

I am also glad that it turned out that way.  ;D

BTW, I went up to you neck of the wood to pick it up this weekend. I used the old "visiting my sister" ploy to trick the wife.

How long did it take before she figured out you don't have a sister?

Where did you pick it up?  I have seen a couple SI for sale in the paper, and another that was at an auction.  I am curious if you ended up with one of them.

There is an auction south of town in a couple weeks, but I will be in Pittsburg for business.   :hissy:  I have money in my arcade budget and it is burning a whole in my pocket.

I was supposed to meet family in BV this weekend, but I have to go to the farm to pick up a half a beef I am splitting with dad and a frened.  Next time I head down that way I will try to check out vidsandpins shop.

I got it from some guy in Independence. Jerry Franks was his name. Apparently he is a bail bondsman. My wife just loves bail bondsmen. Apparently the only vision she can muster up for a bail bondsman is Dog the Bounty Hunter. She wouldn't even get out of the car. Then for some reason she was pissed at me for the rest of the night, so she went to sleep while I drove for 4 hours. I am still not convinced that was a punishment, though.  ;)

It's like magic.  The rare win-win-win.

Your wife was unhappy you were getting the machine in the first place.  Then she decided it was a good idea to go on an eight hour road trip together?

Maybe its just me, but I don't get that at all.   :dizzy:

No, she was happy to get out of the house for a couple of days. It was the fact that the dude wasn't very prompt, so we had to delay our departure for quite a while.

And yes, win-win-win. Especially due to the fact that since she slept, I didn't have to pull over 4 times for her to pee.

Churches have youth centers.

I sold 4 games to a church a while back.  Street Fighter II, NBA Jam, Neo Geo 1slot w/ Fatal Fury, and Lightning Fighters.  They already had pool, ping-pong, and fooseball up there, that's a danged nice youth center now.

I wish it wasn't up three flights of stairs, though.  Man that hurt.

Nice score on the SI, BTW.  I love the looks of those cabs.

So you sold them AND had to move them?   Wow...

Great find on the SI.  I have been looking for something new for my collection and that would have been nice.

Some of those church youth directors put a HARD SELL on you, too.  I've had a couple call me when I had games for sale and they push really hard for a mega cheap price, delivery, warranty, work on the church building, some food for the seniors, you name it they feel like they can demand it from you.  They'll chase you, too, when you say "no you can't have my $2000 pinball machine for $200 delivered and guaranteed for 4 years".

I wouldn't have sold it to them if they offered double asking price.  I'm not selling something to a church that they intend to use to attract children.   :-\

Shame on them for not expecting children to want to sit thru boring sermons for an hour. Horrible christians. ;) ;D

Not these churches.  Not in this area.  Keep your children away from those men at all costs.
