Title: NES emulator help
Post by: itismejs on March 23, 2007, 03:35:38 pm
I bought a mini itx computer to use as an NES pc. It's kind of old (533mhz processor), but it has 768mb of ram. I installed a fresh copy of XP pro, but the emulator is VERY slow and unplayable. I tried installing Xubuntu linux but i'm finding it too hard to use. Does anyone have and ideas on how to get my PC to play NES games at full speed?

XP is a bit heavy for an old PC I think. Why not try windows 98se?

My 600MHz ITX runs NES emulation under XP with 256M ram with no problems.  What does your CPU utilization look like?

Dude your setup is more than enought. I'm pretty sure you're using the wrong emulator. Try FceUltra http://fceultra.sourceforge.net/
