I recently posted a thread (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=64447.0) detailing my first-time visit to Castles & Coasters in Phoenix. I was impressed and thought it would be a cool place for the Arizona BYOAC'ers to meet up for an afternoon.
I believe there are quite a few members in the valley. Care to check in?
Steve

I'd stop by for a few. Be nice to finally meet some fellow BYOAC'ers in person.
-
Ya, me, too.
-
Never checked in this forum before, but I'd be game for a game at Castles and Coasters
-
Count me in!
-
Hey, folks, I'm going to advance this idea and ask ya all if this saturday - say, during the day, before the crowd really hits...though, night is cool if that works better for everyone else - would be good?
-
I wouldnt be able to make it. I'm traveling this week (Philly)
-
Heh - somunny's having a baby and I'm unable this weekend as well... maybe in another 2 weeks or so things may be better. ;)
-
Yeah, even before these recent responses, your first ones on this gave me an idea this weekend would be a little soon. But, as no one had suggested any time, I thought I would, just to get the ball off a little more. Everyone chime again, for the following weekend. Even if not then, probly best to keep a weekly tally for the time being.

Maybe we can keep tally using Notepad

You just made some water come out of my nose. Damn you goz!
-
Hey, I have stalkers. How thrilling.
-
You gotta admit it was worth a chuckle...
-
We seem to have different humour...but they ended up in the same thread.
-
Hell if that wasn't remotely funny then I wouldn't want to hang out with you anyway. Are you sure you are ready to interact with people in public?

You mean... out there?!?
-
Ssssssss, it was cute. I just have my mind on different things at times....and a lot ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- I find funny is odder than that...not Toxic Avenger odd, though. That stuff just hurts the brain. Anyways, obviously this weekend is out, so maybe next.
-
I mean, it just depends, dude. I have different modes. I cuss a lot...then I don't (no, it's not a tourette's thing...kee kee kee)....I'm generally pretty mellow, an sometimes I'm pretty animated. Depends on the situation and how I'm feeling. I'm happy and that's what matters.
-
I think "meet" has been spelt wrong in this thread title.
-
Meat?! You can't have any....okay, that would be waaay old.
-
Sausage fest in Phoenix.

If it's a sausage fest, then I'm probably out... Not that there's anything wrong with that. :laugh2:

At this point, I'm thinking "field trip" is the appropriate term. ;D
-
Anything to get out of the asy - I mean, school.
-
By the way, if any of you would rather pass if I'm there, I don't have to go.
-
I'm interested in something more, and less, than that.
-
Hmmm... I visit this site quite a bit but I'm in the dark as to why shorthair has become such a controversial member.
What really has me baffled is the mysterious reason Cheffo has discontinued writing his own posts. :dunno
Perhaps it's a P&R thing. I don't check that forum out much.

shorthair is the new identity of a former member who got the big ban a while back.
I started the quote-posting simply because tommy said that that's what I do (he was missing a point I had been trying to make) and I figured that, this one time, I would help him to be correct for a change.
Besides, it's kinda fun!
-
And think of all the time he saves not having to type! Not to mention the fine new title he earned himself (if I do say so myself). ;)
Chris

Yeah, being a "Full Member" is so plebeian. ;) Cheffo hasn't lost his gift for gab though, as I've seen him participating in some recent threads. Quotable material even, I might add. ;D
-
Ya, it (cheffo's deal) is cute. I find it funny how much research people are doing on me. As for being informed, S, just haven't been getting to the right places...but I figured you'd be just generally busy, lately and for a bit. Actually, though, I was mentioning in reference to Goz's post. Didn't want people to think they had to tippy-toe or whatever in making plans an all for fear of me showing up, anyway.
-
Believe me, I'm not one to tip toe arround anyone. ;)
Things seem to be lightening up with my schedule. How are things for everyone else? Should we plan something?

Just started with a new company and we have a three week old baby but I can definitely get away for a few hours of gaming.
What do you think? Early on a Saturday? Middle of the week evening? As long as I have a couple of weeks notice, I can make time.
-
My schedule's pretty open, so am waiting to see what works for everyone else.
-
Doh! I just went on Saturday. In town to finish a mini-golf tourney and see 300 in the IMAX. Place is way too packed and some abundantly rude kids. That's part of the experience :)
-
Nobody seems to have put down a hard date yet. I'll go ahead and suggest the late morning / afternoon of May 12. Should be enough time for a quick rollcall to see who's interested. As long as we don't run too late - can't miss RITC.
-
Okay, I'm in for then.
-
Well, unfortunately my Mother will be in town that weekend so I'll be entertaining. The following weekend is open for me, but if you can get the people together, go for it!

That's why it;s far out in the future, so we can plan for the max. How many are there (active on the boards) in AZ so far? You, Short, Goz, and myself. And I think Marlboroman too...
5/19 then? Somewhere between 11AM - 4PM?
-
I'm good after noon on the 19th.
-
Works for me. I'll probly be there near 1100, unless I'm stopping at your pad before-hand, Tetsu.
-
Wow, dunno how I kept missing this thread, but I'd definitely be interested in being there. The 19th should work for me.
For a Valley newbie - is this the outlandish looking Minigolf place on the west side of 17?
-
As long as work doesn't send me out of the country I'll be there. Unfortunately I only know 2 weeks in advance.
-
Cool all. Then 5/19 it is We'll start around 11-ish and we'll see how it goes.
Short - I'm good for before or afterwards so give me a call to set up the pad visit.
Z - yes, it's the big place on the west side of 17. I don't remember golf but I wouldn't be suprised (should see roller coasters from the highway if it's the same place). I haven't been there yet but the arcade portion can't be too hard to find.
-
Yeah Castles and Coasters has 4 mini golf courses.
-

That's a whole lotta mini golf.
-
Four courses, holy ---steaming pile of meadow muffin---. Groovy. I'll give a nod to releasedtruth and marlborrowman (I used to smoke those, you'd think I'd remember how to spell it...) as they may've forgotten about this. Tetsu: will do.
-
somunny, you know I will be there anytime and any place. Congrats on the baby my man! Your cathing up with me! I think we should all bring in a couple pic's of our cab's, so that we can all talk shop and get future ideas etc..
-

Heh, just like a bunch of dads showing off their baby pictures...
(yeah, I'm geeky enough to do that if everyone else is...) :laugh2:
Silly q for the group - should we grab a table and put a BYOAC get together sign or similar up there? I don't know how busy it will be (or if it's food tables and eating in the arcade [portion though usually it is in places like this), but tapping everyone on the shoulder is probably not that efficient for the meetup. I can have the female half watch the kids by there (and bring spouses / kids / etc encouraged).

.....being single, I imagined a boys-only thing. But, okay. If you're bringing family along, you might as well get a couple tables - not sure if that'll require a reservation - and definitely put a sign up.
-
However it all goes down I would be up for this. Maybe we can plan a later Gamers type meet. I'm always more game to talk after a few beers.
-
I just checked out the calendar on their website - says there is a private party on the 19th, and no rides until 1:00. Anyone know if this will affect the arcade?
-
I sent 'em a message, though anyone who's more local can call if they want.
-
If you look at their calendar there is typically a private party that effects the rides being open. However it doesn't effect the arcade. At least it hasn't in the past.
<edit>
I went there yesterday and walked right into the arcade.
</edit>
-
And did you ask 'em about the 19th?
-
Is this still on for the 19th ?
-
What about the 19th?
-
Still on - At least I'll be there around 11am.
-
And did you ask 'em about the 19th?
--cream-filled twinkie--.... it doesn't matter. Only the rides and golf are closed for their private party.
-
Still on - At least I'll be there around 11am.
I'll show around 11ish too. Don't know the layout of the arcade, nor visibility or rules putting the signs up, but you and I should probably put something on the table we congregate at. Either that, or the secret nod / token flash that only we BYOAC'ers can pull off...
-
In true Arcadecontrols.com fashion, I'll have my BYOAC hat on. ;D
-
That reminds me, I need to finish my special game shirt.
-
I'll be there at noon or very soon after.
-
Is this still on for tomorrow?
-
Far as I know. I'll be there.
-
Same here.
-
Yeppers, you'll see me too. No BYOAC hat though, so you'll be guessing a bit. ;D
-
I'll be wearing a bright green shirt with some Marvel Superheroes on it. Yeah, I'm a geek. ;D
-
Thanks for making the trip today, guys! It was great meeting everone.
-
Was definitely cool meeting the local BYOAC p33pz firsthand. We should do it again sometime.
-
Good times. Definitely hope we can do this again.
-
Yeah, it was cool to meet up an all - though I think the arcade brought it down a notch. Place was too loud, the games were turned down (even the pins!)...and I prefer a larger monitor than on those older games. Was neat seeing the original hardware perform, though.
What happened to Goz and mm13?
(By the way, Goz, they wadn't open till one. Good thing I wasn't there early.)
-
I'm game for hosting a get-together next time. I have one full size mame cab and one 3/4 scale. Plus an XBOX 360 and a Wii on the big screen. No pins though. :'(

Yeah my wife busted my balls that day and I couldn't make it. I did branch out later that evening though and made it to the Golfland in Mesa which has a respectible arcade. Lots of variation from newer machine with behemoth monitors to classics and a small row of pins. What I liked best was because I didnt hit the arcade until late at night it was all you can play for $8.
I will make it to the next one. Can prolly drag in2ishUn/Boz along too since he's another Phoenician.
Oh and Shorty according to the fine folks at C&C its normal for the arcade to be open to the public during private parties, However you may need to use the side / back entrance.
-
I'd also be game for possibly hosting but my house is in Maricopa (20 mins from Chandler). I currently have 3 candy cabs (Atomiswave, Neo-geo, NAOMI2, Multi 48 in 1, 465 in 1 Shmup,173 in 1 boards, and a Dreamcast in one cab), X360, PS3, XBOX all projected in HD on a 110" screen. I might even have some pins by then. Pool table and some other goodies as well.
-
Goz: they weren't that day - as those who were there early had to sit through. I should've called as they didn't answer their message page.

You win! :D
-
Not a competition thing Steve, just putting it out there as an option.
-
I think he just meant 'wow, yeah'. I don't know when I'll be making it up that way, again, so go ahead and figure out whatever.
-
I think he just meant 'wow, yeah'.
Precisely! Maybe it came across wrong. Hell, I'd watch 'The View' on a 110" screen!
-
Well I lucked out as far as proximity went for this last meet up, so whatever/wherever anyone is down for next time around, I'm game.
-

Ok now, let's not say things we're gonna regret later. 110" sounds cool, but I'll have to smack you if I ever hear crazy talk like that again.
But Casa Goz looks pretty neat from the WIP on the gameroom / theater. Light sabers were a neat touch (and why isn't a Wii on the console list?). :P
-
Waited too long on the Wii and now I'm more focused on trying to get a pin or two. Wii will be acquired but probably not till late June / July

Yeah, even in metaphor, that's a little over-the-top.

Is the closest thing we have to a "Phoenix/AZ" thread here?

I know this topic is four years old, but was wondering if you guys ever met up? I'm new to BYOC and would enjoy meeting up with with you pros over a couple brews and talk shop
-
I'm in Phoenix, and I'd be game for a meetup.
-
Cool, lets see if we can rally the troops and get something going in the near future
-
Yes, we've met up before. C&C is the usual meeting place.
-
Nice, I've been going to C&C since I was a kid. When is the next scheduled meeting?

There isn't one : :D It's been awhile... we're due for another one.
-
I am kinda coming out of the wood work here as well guys. Was wondering how is everyone doing on their builds?
