Title: Req: Neon Green CPO Graphix
Post by: Squeeky on March 21, 2007, 10:42:14 am
Well as I continue to brainstorm my MAME cab.  Most likely a Woody clone, but I want to run either Black with neon green t-molding (galaga) or with chrome t-molding.  However I'm finding it difficult to find CPO and matching Marquee.  I love the Fusion CPO from mamemarquee but it would be even better if it was neon green instead of blue.  Does anyone who knows photoshop can just switch out the color?  Any help would be great as I'm just getting started.

Thanks
Squeeky

I'm a psp user, but I'm sure photoshop would let you do more. Anyways, just experimenting with a few color balancing tools I came up with the sample below. The only problem with this quick and dirty method is that you will loose your whites in the character sprites. Since alot of the sprites have a blue tint, the easiest thing would be to mask off the mainly white sprites and leave the slightly tinted ones alone(as in change the blue tint to green.

Thanks for the quick fix.  Any idea on keeping the image vectored?  Also if anyone is willing to help me get the image with green background but white character images I'll repay the favor somehow.  I'm just horrible with photoshop.

Thanks

here is a green version that retains the whites.

I have this at a full resolution if you want the larger file, but it's too big to put here.

Squeeky, if you want the Fusion image and want to change the colour (but not lose the whites) here is how to do it:

1. Open the image in Photoshop
2. Image -> Adjustment -> Hue / Saturation (Ctrl-u)
3. Click on colorize (bottom right corner of the window that comes up)

4. Play with Hue, Saturation and Lightness until you achieve a result you like. I got a nice result for green with the following settings:

Hue: 110
Saturation: 75
Lightness: 0

Good luck with it...

I want to run either Black with neon green t-molding (galaga)

Just so you don't end up with something different than you wanted. Galaga uses a black cabinet with black t-mold. Perhaps your thinking of Galaxian? It's a white cabinet with green t-mold.
