Title: MAME32 GUI--can I add windows?
Post by: jasonbar on March 06, 2007, 03:29:50 pm
As a relative newbie to this stuff, I'm a little overwhelmed by the various front ends & customization required in setting them up.  I've been using MAME32 for years & years, and now that I'm putting together a proper cabinet, I want something a little flashier & friendlier.

I'd be happy w/ MAME32 if I could display more than 1 item in the graphics window pane on the right.  As it is now, it has tabs across the top to show cabinet OR control panel OR flyer OR...if I could show a few of those items simultaneously, I'd be happy to run w/ MAME32.

Any way to do this?

Thanks,
-Jason

I don't think there is anyway to do what you want.  Keep in mind that MAME32 isn't really cabinet friendly.  You should definitely look into a real MAME frontend like Mamewah, Mala, etc.  Check the wiki for more info...

Thanks--I somehow managed to miss that big huge wiki...

Looks like a toss-up between Mala & Mamewah for me, whichever one's easier.  I think the deeetailed Mala setup document will win me over.   :]

Don't forget to try Atomic - Youki has posted some very cool new layouts. My documentation is for the previous version, but I'll get it updated to current sometime soon. Check my sig for the online version...

MALA is really easy to set up .... I have not truied Atomic-FE, but I hear that is easy as well.

If you are referring to the MALA setup doc I put together, then you should be set ..... but it is really easy even without that document once you do one or two setups .... sicne you will get the hang of it.
