I'm running MAME32, Hagstrom KE72T, and all Happ Controls in a Street Fighter 2 layout. I'm trying to use the P1 and P2 Super 8 joysticks to play Karate Champ. In the config menu, I changed the inputs accordingly (Left/Right is now "Left Arrow G" and so on). I can do all of the moves with the sticks, but I can't walk forward or backward. The only response I get is when both sticks are moved, resulting in a kick or a punch! The P1 stick alone doesn't move the player. Can anyone tell me how they fixed this problem? Thanks to anyone who can help me. Happy gaming!

Did you pause when you remapped the keys? Don't do that!

I'm a little unclear what "pause" means. I might understand it with another sentence or two of instruction. The way I did it:
1. select input
2. press Enter
3. press P1 stick in desired direction and hold
4. within a half second, press P2 stick in desired direction until it registers in the config menu
Will pressing both buttons simultaneously improve my chances of good results?
Thanks in advance

I meant did you pause the game when setting up the controls?
I don't understand why you held the p1 stick when setting the p2 stick.
-
OK, sorry, no I didn't pause the game. I was running when I hit Tab. Well, the way I understand the config menu is that is says:
P1 Left/Right
P1 Left/Left
P1 Left/Up
P1 Left/Down
P1 Right/Right
P1 Right/Left
P1 Right/Up
P1 Right/Down
Ohhhhhhhhhhhh. It just hit me. I think I've got it. I misunderstood the notation of the inputs. Thanks for replying! I would have been messing around with this for awhile without your help. I feel dumb... :-[

hehe, relized that left/left is left joystick/left direction?
Yeah, it looks weird the first time you see it.

Yup, that's exactly what it was. I was doing this thing involving both joysticks at the same time. But hey, learn by doing, right? Thanks guys.
