I installed MAME32 0.112 and I have a ton of games in .zips, how do I install them?
baddues.zip for example has a bunch of baddudes.1, baddudes.10 and so on files, where do they go?
Thanks!

Leave them zipped up an place them in the roms folder under mame32. If the folder is not there, create it. Then you may need to point to the folder somewhere in the Mame32 GUI.

perfect sir, thank you much!
Need to adjust the speed in a few games with F9 but I think that might also be due to the ANCIENT machine I was testing it on.
Now I just need a pretty front end, thoughts?
-
"Old" PC, then use MameWah:
http://mamewah.mameworld.net/
"New" PC, then use GameEx

I have a 'New' PC but I prefer Mamewah since I don't really care about all the bells and whistles. I just like the fact I don't have to use the command line.

<-------- (atomicFE rocks !)
by far the simplest FE I have worked with,
Plug and play mods are great.
works with Mame 32
The menu will not work with game pads at first.
I had to use joy to key for my console PC
arcades are set up with key wiz so the CP is a keyboard. no problems there.
hope someday Atomic will work with gamepads to move around the menu
but joy to key is a fine fix.
It might even work with Game pads now. My version is a older one.
Yusi (check spelling) updates the Frontend all the time and answers all my questions fast.

I'll have to tinker with MameWah when I get some time, it's too fun playing some of these older game hehe,
Reading on this site I've come up with some questions, I'm running mame32, how does that differ from MAME? Does it matter which one I run?
-
hmm ok things seemed to have started out good but now I'm not so sure.
I was able to get my hands on about 12.5 gigs of ROMs, thing is though it looks like there is 19 parts to this set?
Example:
I have the following files...
Mame1.03 Complete Sets.part01
Mame1.03 Complete Sets.part02
Mame1.03 Complete Sets.part03
Mame1.03 Complete Sets.part04
Mame1.03 Complete Sets.part05
Mame1.03 Complete Sets.part06
Mame1.03 Complete Sets.part07
Mame1.03 Complete Sets.part08
Mame1.03 Complete Sets.part09
Mame1.03 Complete Sets.part10
Mame1.03 Complete Sets.part11
Mame1.03 Complete Sets.part12
Mame1.03 Complete Sets.part13
Mame1.03 Complete Sets.part14
Mame1.03 Complete Sets.part15
Mame1.03 Complete Sets.part16
Mame1.03 Complete Sets.part17
Mame1.03 Complete Sets.part18
Mame1.03 Complete Sets.part19
it looks like parts 01-18 are the exact same size 716,800KB and then part 19 is 635,605KB
browsing through the titles within the various parts look similiar but when I fire up MAME32 I only have a handful that work?
Am I missing something?
ps: that and I could have sworn I saw someone's cab playing NHL Open Ice 2-on2, I can't find that ROM anywhere!!
Must...have....it.....willing to pay!

I am not sure, because I haven't had to deal with those exact files (yet, although I am planning on it) but I think that they are compressed again after the zip, and broken into cd sized chunks. I believe you are in need of some sort of rar process using winrar for example. I wish I knew more, hopefully somebody else will chime in and expand.
Good luck,
Brian

I can see the contents of each part using winrar but when I copy those zips to the ROMS folder in MAME32 they still don't show up as playable?

They have to be individually unzipped. Each ROMset unzipped from the big archive.

The roms have been split by Winrar. (For easier uploading\downloading) You have to combine them again to use them. Open Winrar. Click File, Open Archive. Select the part01 file. It will figure out the rest, and then you can extract them wherever you please. Once they are extracted, you have the roms in a format that Mame can use...

ah that makes sense now, I will try it tonight when I get home from work. Thanks!

ok great now I have WAY more games to choose from but have one issue that's killing me.
I have the file "openice.zip" which according to my research is the NHL Open Ice 2-on-2 game I loved in the arcade. I also did a google on it and found a download for it, the two files are identical in size. I add it to my ROMS folder but I don't see it ANYWHERE in my games list? Is it called something weird?
I looked through all 3200 files lol
-
disregard I'm an idiot :dunno
-
Nope, can't disregard... gotta know what happened so I can avoid it. Did you need to refresh your list? I've fallen victim to that oversight before.
Can't leave us hanging after posting a problem.
Glad the other stuff worked out. I am looking forward to the same tasks about 3gigs from now.
later,
Brian

I fell like a dope but here is what happened <drumroll>
I was looking for "openice" as a game in the list, also looked for "NHL" and nothing, never crossed my mind it would be listed under what the game was ACTUALLY called....."2 on 2 Open Ice Challenge" lol
I guess I was just too excited to play it that I couldn't think straight.
I am having one more issue that after tinkering with for over an hour I still can't get straight. Michael Jackson's Moonwalker (the arcade version not the crap Genesis version) It shows up in my game list but shows as non working and when I try to load it it errors out.
Anyone have luck playing the arcade version successfully?
Thanks so much!

2 on 2 is a great game! Glad you finally got it working!
