Title: For those with right/left mouse wired to player control buttons. Help...
Post by: edge on February 03, 2007, 05:27:32 pm
I have a trackball dedicated cabinet (see my sig).  I use a JPAC for monitor and player controls.  I also use the Electric Ice Trackball (with support for 3 mouse buttons).

I did not want to add dedicated left and right mouse buttons to my control panel, so I wired:
- the left mouse button to share Player 1 Button 1 (mapped to letter A)
- the right mouse button to share Player 1 Button 2 (mapped to letter S)

This setup is not working that great.  Whenever I click on stuff in Windows, the letter A or S is also pressed.  Confuses the heck out of windows explorer. hehe...  I tried to change to CTRL and SHIFT, but that was worse.

For those that share mouse controls with player controls, what key mappings do you use?

Is there a way to have the JPAC only work in Mame/Front End(Mala), then have it load a different config in Windows?  If you can pass config via commandline to the JPAC, I should be able to load mame config on mala startup, then when I exit, load a windows-safe config.

Thanks for any ideas.

I don't have my mouse buttons on my action buttons, but can't mame be mapped to use the mouse buttons instead of keyboard keys? Simply disable the key presses from the buttons altogether.

Good point. I will try that out.  Thanks.
