Title: simple bulb replacementfor trivia game from us games

I was just given a U.S. Games bartop 10-game machine (with trivia , black jack, etc.) and it has five red rectangular buttons that are illuminated. I really can't figure how to get to the light bulbs behind the buttons. I have removed the cherry microswitches and I can see the white plastic guts embedded in the black threaded base. But how to seperate those parts to get to the bulb.  I don't want to break it. It looks like the white part should pull away from the black base revealing the bulb.  Is there a trick? Any help appreciated.   I would think this method is in most lighted switches but its new to me!

Here is more info. This item was sold as Bar Brain and has a 1991 copyright on the software. Also I see a data port inside. Anyone know what that is for? (I don't supose anyone has a manual for one of these?) I am wondering whether the Trivia game can be updated with new info through the port.

All illuminated pushbutton switches for the amusement/gaming industry bulbs are changed the same way. You simply tip/rock the white switchholder slightly and pull straight back toward you. Some are tight fits and you have to pull hard.

Reinstallation is easy just push the switcholder straight back into the button till it clicks/locks into place.

Most of this type of game uses 12 volt wedge based lamps like # 161 or #194 (commonly found in auto parts stores).

Thanks. It was still stuck so I use a heat lamp to warm the outer black plastic - then it popped out with a modest tug. The bulb is a GE 658 (I think - the writing is deteriorated). Hey, is there a way to post of picture on this forum?  If so I'd like to put up some shots of this game. Thanks again for the advise.

A 658 is a 12 volt bulb. You can sub a # 161.
