I have a UMK3 arcade game and the reds in the monitor are faded almost completely. (Ermac looks dark red/brown instead of bright red) Does anyone know if this is something that can be fixed, or will the monitor just need to be replaced?
By the way, it's been like this since I bought it about 3 years ago and we've been playing it just fine, but recently I've been putting a little work into the machine, cleaning it up, etc... so I'd like to get the picture looking top-notch as well.
Any ideas?

TheGreg,
What type of chassis do you have? If you dont know post a picture of the monitor chassis. Also read Peale's post in this fourm ( 1st post on this fourm)

I don't have a pic, but going through the different models it looks like mine could be this one...

The WG K7000
I'm pretty sure this is an original monitor for this cabinet, it's a dedicated Mortal Kombat cabinet, if that helps at all.
The only identifying marks I can find are "DANGER, HIGH VOLTAGE!!!" I'm pretty sure it's the WG K7000, though.
Thanks for any help you guys can give.

Could be something as simple as bad solder joints on the video input connector. Or you could have a bad transistor on the neckboard for the red signal. Or maybe one of the red cutoff or red drive pots on the neckboard is bad.
Maybe even the picture tube needs rejuvenation (especially if it has one of those 22.5 mm diameter necks).

If I had to guess, I'd think it was something with the picture tube. I played around with the red cutoff and red drive, and they do have an effect on how much red there is, it just seems that the red is really faded, but not completely absent, if that makes any sense.
I don't know, I guess my question is do you think this is something just any TV repair guy can come out and fix? I'm not sure I want to undertake the task myself. I've done everything else on the machine myself, but I know if I got started on the monitor it would just sit there, torn apart, for about 6 weeks before I decided to finish it. I'm a lazy bastard like that...
Thanks for any input you guys can offer, I appreciate it.

I'd come out and rejuvenate it for you, but I'm betting you're nowhere near me.
