Title: ArcadeVGA
Post by: Chazz on April 04, 2003, 08:21:07 am
I still can't get my AVGA card going... It works perfectly in DOS mode, and I can get 800x600/32bit Color in Safe mode running XP, but when I try to run in normal mode I get a quick blue screen, then the computer re-boots. I've read every post here, and at Andy's site and read all the documents, and tried every suggestion I could see, but still no luck. I've tried deleting the ATIMTAG.SYS file, but it always comes back!! Every-time I reboot it finds the "Radeon 7000 DDE" card (I think that's what is says, but you know what I'm talking about). Can someone please help me out!

If you have read all the posts then you have probably tried this already... but just in case (especially since it sounds like your problem) try the following.

1.  Boot into safe mode.
2.  Install the ArcadeVGA driver
3.  Reboot

The problem this sounds like is that the default drivers that ship with XP don't work with the ArcadeVGA card.  This is documented on Ultimarc in the install section for the ArcadeVGA.

I had the same thing happen (i.e. the rebooting) and did the above.
