Hi Chris,
My MAME cab runs 3.0B4 as it does everything I want, however I'm about to build a new jukebox for parties and wanted to use a later version so I downloaded 3.1.3 . I have a spare Win98SE laptop that I wanted to use for this project but I have a problem in that once a song has been selected it moves from the queue to the "now playing" display but only for an instance and then it disappears (and doesn't play)! I tried 3.0B4 on the laptop and that is fine.
Any ideas?
Best regards
Gary
p.s. should I give up hope on a working Win98 touchscreen version?

I'll move progressively through the releases today and see where it stops working. I really want the volume control so hopefully B5 will be okay, but I also like the idea of the "scratchy record" intro (being a bit retro).

Do you know what sound chip is in the laptop?

I tried upgrading my MAME cab with 3.1.3 and got the same problem as with the laptop. What I have found is that if I select a track that is an OGG file it plays the scratchy record intro then the track disappears from the now playing display and there is no music. If I choose one of my few MP3 files it works perfectly.
I have also tried removing all pre/post delays and #ing the prerec.wav but it still does the same.
Do OGGs work for you?
Regards
Gary

Chris,
Just tried 3.0B11 and that works fine.

Chris, forgot to say that my MAME cab runs DOSCab.

It's probably related to the change in Allegro versions; that happened between 3.0b11 and 3.1. I'm not sure if I've tested OGG's since then. Hmm. Good troubleshooting; I'll take a look at it.

I've found the problem; it'll be fixed in the next version.
