Title: Radeon 7500 vs Voodoo3 3000 - TV out
Post by: Brad Lee on March 31, 2003, 04:33:58 pm
I jsut reinstalled my ATI card today(7500aiw) and let me just say.. Damn it looks good
I'd been using my old voodoo3000 for tv-out while the ati was being RMA'd, and it was passable- a little blurry, didn't exactly fit the screen size.. just little things but totally playable

The difference was like night and day though

Robotron and other williams games gave me some terrible effects on the voodoo- the color-cycling border around the highscores for example, had some weird pixelation going on, no matter what native resolution I was using for mame. Today though, it looks nice & smooth

Also, since adding tinted plexi over the tv, it looks great! I added the plexi when the voodoo was running and it really looked good, and that's even better now

For anyone looking for a decent tv-out card at a fairly reasonable price, I would defintiely recommend the ATI radeon line. The 7500 can be found for under 100$, and even the all-in-wonder isn't much more than that.

I'm still teetering between a 7500 and an 8500.  I wanna be able to use that ATI HDTV adapter (http://www.ati.com/products/pc/hdtvadapter), which means at least an 8500.
