I have some carbon monoxide inside the house, pretty sure it's coming from the furnace. Any idea what might be causing it?
-
Backup. Your chimney and/or one of the exhaust pipes is clogged. That's my guess.
-
I wonder if Dan Tanner had that problem on Vega$?

It could also be a cracked heat exchanger. That is somewhat common in older furnaces. You may want to have it checked out by a professional.

BTW, way to make a joke on a possibly deadly situation lloyd. Quite funny.

If you can't solve it definitively yourself have a pro do it. Don't go to sleep without knowing it is solved. At the very least buy a couple of carbon monoxide detectors and put them where people sleep.
-
Everyone should have CO detectors, especially if you have an attached garage. I recommend the hard-wired version with battery backup.
Definitely get a professional to check that out.
-
yeah, everything seems ok now. We had the fire dept come out and look. We have two CO detectors and they were going off the other day when I posted this. The fire dept said one was bad so I should replace it. They checked the house and only found it in the garage.
Thanks

Is there any thread where Chad doesn't have an opinion? I swear Chad you need to put a legal disclaimer in your sig.
-
Erm, you don't like when I advise the guy not to let his family sleep in a house where carbon monoxide is present?
What exactly is wrong with that? :dunno
-
You're stating the obvious Chad. You're suggesting he install detectors. Well how would he know he had carbon monoxide build up in the first place if he didn't have detectors? You do know it's odorless right??
::)
-
No idea how he discovered it. Maybe he has a bird that is now dead. We have no way of knowing without him actually telling us.
Whatever your issue is, it doesn't have to do with this guy, so relax. There's a nice PM button you can use if you don't like me.
-
No idea how he discovered it. Maybe he has a bird that is now dead.
Yeah, but didn't you assume that he lived in a Coal mine? How can you be sure it was a Parakeet?
Yeah.
;)
-
Maybe he found out by dying himself.
-
You do know it's odorless right??
Why yes, yes it is.

I wonder if DJ Tanner had that problem on Full House?

The best/only advice you should give a guy posting to an arcade board about what needs to be done about carbon monoxide in his house is to install detectors and get professional help.
Carbon monoxide isn't a do it yourself project. If you don't already know what to do seek professional help.
-
And most of us should seek professional help regardless, so since we're not allowed to state the obvious (previously defined for us as: "install detectors", heretofore also including "seek professional help"), I guess we can all sit here and STFU. That makes for a good message board.
:laugh2:

In all seriousness I lived next to a family where several children died due to carbon monoxide poisoning, So call your local gas co. and tell them you have carbon monoxide present in the house and they will come over for free and test to see what the source(s) is. Good luck

You could tell him to open a window . . .
