I seem to pretty much like all of them but i find myself playing the bowling alot more than others. So far my best game is 227.
What do you guys enjoy most? How well are you doing in these games?
-
I can't pick, I like 'em all, but play bowling, golf, and boxing a bit more than the other two. Best bowling was a 158. That was several weeks ago, haven't broke it yet!
Target golf under training is fun...I think my score was 227 or 327 maybe under it...set a record there!
I think the first time I played golf I was only 4 to 6 over par, which says more for the controller than it does for my golf skills....

Tennis is my favorite...pretty much because it's the only one I don't royally suck at. My bowling high score is 110. My bowler friend came over and got a 180.
I own at tennis, though. My rating is in the 700s, and only because I haven't had enough time to play all the way for pro (1000). I've never lost. (knock on wood ;D)
I'm pretty horrible at the others. I've done Wii Fitness twice. I got ages 53 and 62 (I actually got worse the second time).
What's even more terrible is that I am 14 years old.
-
Bowling and Golf have been my favorites right away. It took me awhile to pick up on tennis. At first I didn't like it, but now I think it's up there with the other two. Boxing is pretty good, the only one that seems a little weak is baseball. Awesome pack in, I'm really happy to have it included with the system.
My personal best at bowling is 234, most of time I average around 180-210. Must have been all the beer that day. Calms the nerves :)

Tommy & Baker:
So, why don't you guys post you codes in the Wii code thread. Too anti-social? ;)
As for me, my son and I like bowling and baseball.
-
 I lost in tennis today. The opponents had a rating of 1400, so I guess it's understandable.
What are your ratings?
Oh, and I got 29 for my workout age. My, how strange.

I do not take my Wii online so it would make no difference.

Wife and I have been playing alot of Bowling, Baseball and Golf..... and man, I've got to be a bit out of shape because my arm's killing me.. lmao.
I also don't have the Wii online, so no point in looking up the code.

Eh? So you will never use VC, News, Weather, Online Play, Mii Sharing, or any of the firmware updates? And channels to come?
Por qué?

Odds are, no..... but, you never know.......

I can't remember the last time a console maker actually packaged a game with the launch of a new console. It always seems like an afterthough after sales have gone down. I'm glad to see it! I think I've finally identified which gift under the try is my Wii. I think I've also identified the DS card and Zelda. >:D
-
My ratings keep changing after a point - boxing I'm up in th 640s, I think...but have to knock them out to move up much and dadgum the opponents are tough now.
As for the Wii Sports age, I've found it flucuates a lot, but lately has stayed around 35 - 45. Depends on how tired I am when I do the test...if I'm nearly out, my age will be 65! :D
-
Gotta say I like the bowling power shot training with tons of pins. The regular 10 pin bowling is a tad boring since I bowl league every thursday... but I expect stuff like the power shot when I'm playing a game, something I cannot do in real life and actually require a simulator for.
Tennis is decent, although I can't figure out how to consistantly direct my shots. I have played tennis all my life, so I know I am swinging correct for IRL tennis, I guess I just need to mess with it until I figure out the "trick".
Golf is quite good too, if not a little hard to get used to.
Baseball and boxing I think are pretty lame.
I am hoping the Wii Play still will allow for more interaction, and not just swinging the remote around (e.g. Moving to the ball with the analog stick and swinging to hit it, not just swinging alone)
-
ok... so I was wrong... code posted.
-
I've bowled a 289 today, damn one spare ruined it all.
-
Hey, here's an update...I have a 1720 tennis ranking 8)

I'm a huge fan of bowling. Its honestly the only one I have played over at my friends house while we split a 12 pack nothing was more exciting than a nice game of wii bowling.

I like the practice/fitness gaems in baseball. Especially the one where you just try to hit as many fair balls as possible. It's tough when he starts throwing fastballs. They get by you pretty quick. My best score is a 25. I also like all of the practice/fitness games for bowling.

are there any good fishing games on WII? It just seems the controls would be perfect for this type of game (twitching the line to simulate lure movement, setting the hook, etc.)

Zelda ;D

I'm pretty much convinced that the first big purchase of 2007 for me is a Wii. I'm somewhat hesitant, though, given that my house is old. The floor in the living room has that 1950s era bit of bounce to it... if we get multiple people bouncing around at once everything in the room vibrates. :laugh2:

Anybody else JUST figuring out how to throw curveballs, screwballs and splitters in Baseball? LOL.... I'd just been tossing fastballs until a couple days ago.....

You didn't pay attention to the training thingy? What's your rating in baseball? Want to know because I want to see how far you can get just throwing fastballs. ;)
-
Not really....lol.... too many other people playing with me to notice anything other than what I needed to know to pitch and bat... LOL
My score was 209 :)

I have not yet connected my Wii to the internet but i have heard that there are some updates to the Wii sports games when you do connect, what updates are there to be had to the sports games online if any?
-
I also just picked up my first game other than Wii Sports, i got Excite truck. This is a really fun game for all ages and has some pretty cool looking graphics even on my 42" Sony projection screen TV. A+

Bowling seems a little too easy. I suck at real bowling but it looks like I'm going to average over 200 on the Wii. I have to miss a few on purpose to keep my wife in the game.
Got a 28 on my first try at Wii fitness! That's quite a bit below my real age. Nowhere to go but up now I guess.
-
If Wii Sports goes online, I should warn you all now - my daughter, the 4 year old, has a killer tennis serve. She has discovered the "trick" of aceing you on a constant basis with smoke trailing the ball. The first time I played her yesterday, I "let her" win....but on subsequent tries, I was planning to make her work for the win. Yeah, sure, whatever. The only place I returned her serve was in to the seats around the stadium!
She's also good at golf (disgustingly so, says the ultimate computer shanker), and has finally gotten the hang of bowling. She's been practicing boxing too, I learned. I told her Mom - won't have to worry about her protecting herself. Looked like that old Garfield cartoon where the mailman said "Stand back cat, I know karate", and after shredding him, Garfield's reply was "And I know fast and furious."
I really should put up a boxing video....it's hysterical!
-
My 5-year-old son has also mastered that serve. He jumps up and brings the controller down very fast. I have yet to be able to do it. ???

If that's not love, I don't know what is. ;)

I've been trying to get her more involved in my gaming addiction hobby for a long time, and it's been great to see her finally wanting to play something. But she's pretty competetive so I have to make sure she wins at least half the time ;)
And that's difficult when she's a total spaz with a Wiimote in her hand :laugh2:

I'm all about the bowling. It is by far the most accurate of the games.... you can use your same form at the bowling alley when using the wiimote and get the same results (which might be a bad thing). Btw guys the reason it seems easier is because the wiimote doesn't weigh 15 lbs. ;)
Baseball would be a close second as it seems to be really accurate as well (it's just a shame you don't get to run or catch). Golf and boxing are ok and tennis seems unresponsive to me.
Tommy, afaik there aren't any updates to wii sports, nor are there any planned. There are a few updates to the os though and of course that all-important opera browser and weather channel.

Bowling is the one that my family has the most fun with, but it is by no means accurate.
It is ridiculous how easy it is, and if it were a true represntation of my bowling ability, I would be on the pro circuit. :P

I would agree that the bowling is the "closest" to the real thing out of them all... but still not perfect, obviously.
I actually bowl better in real life, but I've been a league bowler for some time now, and only a Wii bowler for a few months. :)
I think tennis is probably the worst out of them all as far as realism. It is very difficult to aim the ball, even if you swing as you would on a real tennis court. I also play league tennis, and have also been playing for close to 17 years... and Wii tennis isn't anything like it.
But, in the end, the realism is only a small slice of the gaming pie. The amount of fun you have while playing the game (with or without friends) is clearly paramount in importance.
-
Another nod to bowling (9/10) - - for the realism and the bonus training modes. both the barriers and power modes are a lot of fun (but not for multiplayer).
Tennis (7/10) is outstanding for 4 players, the simplicity of not moving helps get non-gamers into it. You WILL get better at aiming if you go through the training a bunch. On the downside, it should have allowed an option to be able to move the players with the nunchuck.
Golf (6/10) is fun and has great training modes, but is a sleeper for 4p, and has a rather limited course. It also frequently misinterprets movement, and is very difficult to swing lightly.
Baseball (5/10) is ok - - pitching is kinda boring, and hitting isn't much better. I do like the fact that they take your other Miis and throw them on your teams. A sleeper for 4p.
Boxing (8/10 initially, then 4/10) i would say is the worst. Strategy isn't really there, but people have a lot of fun initially (and get a lot of exercise).
-
. . .and only a Wii bowler for a few months. :)
Even if you got a Wii on launch day you couldn't have been a Wii bowler for more than a month and a half :)
Tennis is probably my favorite, followed closely by bowling. The ball is really quite easy to aim, but it's not a very good representation of actual tennis. You aim left by swinging early on a forehand or late on a backhand and aim right by doing the opposite. I can't wait for a virtua tennis, though. Sega would be crazy not to make it and I'm just incredibly excited to be able to move my player and slice, etc.
Good lord, the Wii has so much potential.
