Hey, fellas, since it's the season for this sort of thing, I wanted to see who among you has had any ghost experiences to post... it interesting to check the ghost forums and see what has happened to people who dig this sort of thing, but I wanted to see what real experiences you might have had, since byoac'ers tend to be a bit more grounded...well, some of you... let's hear 'em!
-
One time, I went to get some milk from the fridge, and it was spoiled... two days before the labeled expiration.
That had to have been an angry poltergeist. Cause that's just too freaky for a better explanation.
-
...or sometimes certain strong emotions can manifest themselves into poltergeist activity. Like perhaps....sexual frustration.
-
I don't think that sexual frustration spoiled my milk.
-
Perhaps not, but it can wreak havoc on your sausage. :laugh2: OOOOWEEEEEOOOOOO
-
Eh, that's in the freezer, which takes care of that.
I think this gourd has just about had it, though.

Is there paranormal activity surrounding it? It looks as if it might vibrate menacingly when the lights go out...
-
Well I sure didn't paint it. And it used to be a sphere.
-
This just happen to me this Friday. Ok, it isn't a paranormal story, but it's freaky nonetheless, especially given the season.
I live in a small, old mill building, only 7 units. A few of the units are empty as people have recently moved out. The smoke alarm is the apartment below us has been beeping every 3-4 minutes for the past couple of weeks. The battery is low. I haven't seen the woman who lives in the apartment below; I've put my ear to the floor and I haven't heard her either, no TV, no running water. The little dogs she has are silent as well. Same with her baby, whom we can usually hear if we listen closely. Nothing. Just the beeping, every 2-3 minutes, which seems to echo in an empty room.
Our landlord usually leaves the door unlocked on the empty apartments so he can just have anyone show them. I've gone into the empty apartments before to replace the smoke alarm batteries, as NO ONE ever seems to do it...so I figure I'd go down and check to see if I can get in to replace this one.
I go downstairs, I knock on the door lightly, press my ear to the door and listen. Nothing. I check the handle and it turns, the door slowly cracks opens. "Helloooo?" Silence. It's pitch black inside. First thing I notice is the smell of perfume, it's strong...but there is no sound, no motion, no life. I'm still standing outside the apartment, I open the door further, a beam of light from the hallway travels across the room and reveals furniture inside.
"---Cleveland steamer---! There's someone still living here", I think to myself. I quickly swing the door closed, but just before it is shut completely, I happen to glance to the left. Just for a split-second, I notice something. There's a couch inside the apartment, against the wall, facing the hallway I'm standing in. There's a person lying on it, covered with a white sheet...covered from head to toe. Arranged in a "mummy" position.
"Sorry!", I say. The door clicks shut. It takes 2 secs before I completely freeze. Thinking about whether or not I should open the door to check again. I decide against it. It didn't *smell* bad or anything.
That was four days ago. I've been trying to get ahold of the landlord to see if he's heard anything recently from the woman who is supposed to live there.
I haven't. It's still absolutely quiet. Except for the beeping of the smoke alarm, that, every 2-3 minutes, seems to echo in the "empty" apartment below.

Ever consider turning on the light?
-
Beeping's from elsewhere but due to how sound bounces around, you THINK it's from down stairs.
-
Some friends and I were exploring a large cemetery several years ago. Goofing around I started whistling eerily into a mausoleum in mock ghost/scary wind sound fashion. Suddenly it felt as if someone had grabbed me by the throat. I quickly got the hell away from that spot. My friends said I turned white and was pretty freaked out. Never put much credence in ghosts but this experience still haunts me!
-
You're out of your gourd.
-
Back when me and my wife were dating, she told me about how when she was a kid, she would sometimes see an old woman standing at the bathroom sink across the hall from her bedroom. I always thought she was full of it. Eventually, she switched bedrooms in the house, and the old one became a storage room. One night we were sitting in the living room and she all the sudden got up and ran into the kitchen. She was very pale, and told me she had saw a floating white cloud in the hallway between her old bedroom and the bathroom. I picked at her for a minute and then went to check it out. As soon as I put my hand around the door to her old bedroom, I got this horrible chill that went thru my whole body. It was like all my energy was zapped. I never saw anything, but I felt something, which to me was much worse. I then went back to the kitchen and fell down beside my wife. I was paler than she was. Since then, I tend to believe people who are sincere about their experiences.
-
Really, what happened is that she went into the hallway, let a huge one rip, and then convinced you to go in and be exposed to it.
-

We are 100% certain it's from downstairs. I heard it beep in the apartment when I had the door open.
Ever consider turning on the light?
At this point, no. I'm not going back in. I didn't have time to think about doing it when I first peeked in, the realization that the apartment was still inhabited led me to *very* quickly close the door. I'm not going to bother her again if she's still there and still alive. I'm just going to wait to hear from the landlord.

Maybe the police?

That was the first thought that came to my mind. I would definitely call the police to check this out. They'll go in, take a look around and if everything is kosher, then no biggy. Mr. C. is smarter than this, so of course he is yanking your crank guys. Just look at the way he constructed the story : cleverly placed mentions of the beeping, a typical plot point of a ghost story.
Very good story either way Mr. C. ....of course if you are actually serious (which you aren't)pick up your damn phone and call the po-po.

Get a wheelbarrow and a bell. Hunch over and wheel the barrow down the hall, ringing the bell, and shout BRING OUT YOUR DEAD.
If they bring out any dead, you know what happened.

Ah good story Mr C. I have a creepy story for ya. About 8 years ago (I was in my early 20's) a couple of friends, my bro and I were walking through a particularly old part of town past a particularly old cemetary. It was late night, although I don't remember the exact time. Anyway we had been telling strange stories that we had heard or experienced and my friend Dan mentions that there is supposedly a ghost "dog" that runs around the neighborhood. As Dan was describing the dog, I got this creepy feeling and I looked over to my right, toward the cemetary. There sat a white poodle, it was pretty mangie looking and it only had one eye (I know it sounds corny, but its true). This was the exact dog my friend was in the process of describing. I interrupted Dan and I said "Is that the dog you are referring too?". He looked over and took a few steps back and said yes. Well I was pretty scared and I ran at the dog, I dont know what I thought I was going to do but I think I was running of adrenaline. Here is where it starts getting weird, The dog motions as if it were barking, jaws snapping, body lurching forward, but not a single sound came out. It then took off at an unnatural speed, never leaving the outer perimeter of the cemetary, never making a sound, until it disappeared out of view.
At this point we all look at each other and everyone was pretty freaked out, except for my bro who was keeping it cool, he didn't believe in these type of things and thought it was a setup. So we continued to walk around the block, discussing what we had just seen. At some point we reached the other side of the cemetary and there was an open gate. My friends Dan and Jeff H. and my bro decide that they want to venture through the cemetary to see if they can find the dog. I, being the cautious person I am and not wanting to tempt fate, decided not to participate. My friend Jeff S, who was probably the most affected by this was still shaking and decided he would walk with me, following the perimeter of the cemtary to the street we started this adventure on. Keep in mind this is a fairly small cemetary. We were rounding the corner that put us on the street perpendicular to the street we originally saw the dog on. Then, screaming... some angry, some scared. So my friend and I start running in the same direction we had been travelling, we were about 200 feet from a second entrance to the graveyard. I remember almost crying cuz my bro was in that graveyard as well as 2 of my very close friends, but I held it in. I yelled for my bro but there was still a lot of yelling. At this point I could recognise the noise and realized it was my friends and bro, I look up ahead and see my friends come out of the second entrance, they were waving and frantically yelling for us to hurry. I dont know if I ever ran that fast in my life. We ran to a friends house who was close by. I still wasn't sure what happenned.
We all sat down and Dan started explaining. They entered the cemetary and started walking, everything seemed fine and there was no sign of the dog. Dan's uncle had died the year before of cancer and was buried in the cemetary so Dan decided they would walk past his grave. As they rounded the corner and the front of the plot came into view, they realized the dog was sitting on his uncles grave. Dan yelled angrily, "get the hell out of here". Unphased the ghost dog began walking toward them. Dan waved his hands frantically and swung at the air to scare the dog off but the dog kept coming without so much as a flinch, motioning as if panting, tongue dangling, chest swelling then emptying, but absolutely no sound! That is when they started yelling and running out of the cemetary. Now we were all pretty creeped out, it was at this time that my bro began trying to save face. Forever the skeptic he explained that there had to be a reason for it all. I said I didn't care as long as we were away from there. At that point friend Dan became angry again and began cursing the dog "why the ---fudgesicle--- does it have to mess with my uncle?" he asked, we didn't have an answer.
"I want to go back again, one more time" Jeff H says. Jeff H was the guy in the group that always had something to prove. Forever the tough guy. My friend Dan was still angry as I had mentioned and he said he would go too. Jeff S and I were still pretty scared and my bro was "busy" watching a movie, so the three of us were out. I tried to convince them to not go, that it was stupid to toy with this stuff but they left anyway.
I remember thinking what idiots they were and being scared for them at the same time. Don't get me wrong I am not the ---Bad words, bad words, whatcha gonna do? Whatcha gonna do when saint censors you?--- that this story would lead you to believe. But anyone who has been close to something like this can tell you what kind of feelings these occurences can manifest. The feeling I had when I first saw that dog was a somber, lonely feeling as well as a feeling of dread. The world seemed unnaturally dark in that moment, and I don't mean metaphorically, I mean literally dark or dim. I am sure someone on these boards can vouche for me here.
A half an hour had passed and I heard my friends coming up the steps. There were at a quick gait and I heard crying echo through the hallway. By the time I got up to meet them they were already up the steps and Jeff H didn't look the same, now or ever again. He was pale white and crying hysterically, he was shaking untrollably and he was embracing a broken stick as if it were some holy weapon that could save him from that night. Dan began speaking "We reached the hut in the middle of the cemetary and we could both see something white and green over one of the graves. I realized how bad an idea this was and I told Jeff we should split." We all look over at Jeff and he is still shaking uncontrollably, still crying. "Jeff said he wanted to check it out and he would be right back. I waited at the hut. When he reached a certain point the white and green things started moving toward him quickly. He screamed like a woman and started running toward me and the exit, so I started running too. At one point I looked back to see if the white and green thing were still following. They were and they were close. It was the dog and it had some kind of green mist around it. I just kept running, I passed Jeff and didnt stop until I got here." We asked Jeff if he was ok and he didn't answer, he just cried. To this day he won't talk about it.
We were all talking about leaving that part of town and getting as far away from the graveyard as possible and my bro starts laughing. "You guys are retarded, I ain't falling for this". We continue talking and decide we are going to leave, my bro says "No I am staying". I am like "come on Tim lets just get out of here, can't you just learn from Jeff, now isnt the time to be a tough guy, lets just go." So he gets up and starts walking to the door. I thought great he is ready to go now. Then he starts coughing and says "something is wrong" in a strained tone. "What?" I say. He ignores and walks down the steps. We all look at each other and I run out to see if he is ok. I get outside and my brother is walking away from me, breathing is labored, he is looking up at the sky. I yell "Tim!" He just keeps lumbering away as if he didn't hear me. I yell again and start running toward him, still no response. I catch up to him and shake the hell out of him "Tim, tim wake up". He shakes his head and he looks at me. "How did I get out here" he says. "Are you ok?" I say. "Lets get out of here" He says and we did. None of us had a car then so we walked a couple of miles to Dan's house and we all hung out there. Leaving that night and its events behind....Or so we thought.
There is one last chapter to the story. One night, close to halloween I was hanging out with a friend of mine Sarah. It was about 6 years after the whole incident and I decided I would tell her the story of that night. It was about 3:00 am and we were both creeped out. I was staying with my grandmom at the time and we had been hanging out on the front porch. I decided I would walk her to her car cuz she was pretty creeped out. "Todd? I don't want to creep you out but turn around" she says laughing. That feeling swept over me again from 6 years ago. Slowly I turned around and there was the ---smurfing--- dog!!!! little white poodle, desheveled, one eye, and no sound.... I screamed like a ---smurfette--- and ran, sarah followed behind. We got to her car and I told here I was sleeping at her house that night, she said that was ok and it has been 2 years since I have seen the white dog. For the record, my grandmoms house is 30 miles away from that graveyard, but there is a different graveyard directly behind her. True story!!!!

Very good story either way Mr. C. ....of course if you are actually serious (which you aren't)pick up your damn phone and call the po-po.
Well, I live on the edge of a really bad part of town, you don't call the police in my neighboorhood for "suspicions"...the cops here have so many things to deal with. They're already familiar with me as a pretty active member of my area 'watch' program. So they give me plenty of ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- when it doesn't pan out, and I don't want to be the boy who cried Wolf too many times.
But, just so I don't look like a totally heartless ass, I left out the part about her being active in the military. She often leaves for long periods of time, and I think we just walked in on her sleeping while she was last in town. I've heard back from the landlord, he checked the door and it's locked now. Her car is gone...and there are no bad smells coming from the apartment ...yet.

lordtodd,
Read through the story, very interesting, two things cracked me up though:
I, being the cautious person I am and not wanting to tempt fate...
...decided to RUN DIRECTLY AT A GHOST DOG!! lol.
and this:
We got to her car and I told here I was sleeping at her house that night...
This is the whole reason for the ghost story, isn't it? You angled for six years!

That is a lot of work for a piece of ass. Next time I will get a hooker  I suppose the first statement is a bit contradictory as well, lol. Keep in mind though that I don't think I was in my right mind when I ran at the dog. I think It was a nervous reaction to the events. Thinking about it now I wonder what the hell I was thinking.

When I lived at my parents house, I had an interesting experience. Well, I've actually had a few there, but I just really like this one...
One morning while I was getting ready for school (senior year at high school), I headed to the bathroom to take a shower. I was the only one home, as at the time my brother was away at college, and my parents had jobs which made them leave fairly early.
Anyway, I walked into the bathroom, and put my towel on the countertop across from the shower. I noticed that I had placed my towel on top of a pair of tweezers (they were in the spot where I always put my towel in the morning).
Took a shower, and pulled back the curtain to grab my towel. As I pulled the towel, I saw the tweezers fall to the floor, and I heard them bounce on the floor twice (tink, tink). I reminded myself to pick them up when I got out of the shower, and closed the curtain again cause it was still nice and warm in there.
I finished toweling off and opened the curtain. To my amazement, the tweezers were back on the countertop -- right where they were at the start of this story. I searched the floor where I saw the tweezers fall -- nope, nothing there. I called to my family -- nope, nobody home.
I don't consider this story to be particularly spooky, but I think it fits well into this thread.

Along with MustardTent's wierd-but-not-scary story...
While I was in college, I had an apartment by myself. I didn't have any roommates, and nobody had a spare key (except for the apartment manager, of course).
Anyways, someone had given me a cheesy gift of a battery-operated frog. It had a switch underneath with just two settings - on and off. When it was on, it would hop and around for a while, stick out its tongue, make a sound, and repeat the process.
Anyways, I got home one day to hear this sort of mechanical grinding sound coming from my bedroom. The frog was on my desk laying on its back in the "on" position. To my knowledge, I never left the thing on its back. And I definitely know I didn't turn the thing on. To top it all off, I always left it on the dresser, and this time it was on the desk.
Like I said... not scary, but wierd.

Heres an odd story that just happened last week, although you could just say it was a coincidence.
My cousin is a firefighter and has been fighting the large fire here in southern California. One day out of the blue my Aunt gets this weird feeling that my cousin (her son) is in danger and she needs to pray for him and get other people to pray for him (regardless of your thoughts on prayer, the point is she felt he was in immediate danger even though he'd already been fighting the fire for several days). She called my mom and my mom called me. About an hour later we see on the news that several firefighters had just died in the fire, which is obviously what we were dreading to see. Later that night we got a call from my cousin. He said that he was okay, but earlier that day he was heading to the same location where the firefighters had died (before they had died), but he had to stop and get gas on the way there. That couple of minutes delay was just enough to keep him from harms way and dieing with the other firefighters.
I'm not going to try and argue that prayer had anything to do with him being saved, but you have to admit that its odd how my Aunt suddenly had this feeling that he was in danger, but his stopping for gas at that moment saved his life.

On a couple of occasions I have gotten the feeling that I am not alone even when I am the only one in the house. Usually this feeling is accompanied by some form of movement or sound that I cannot explain....each time it has been different but for example, I remember one night I was up late surfing the net....nothing new.... the wife was sound asleep as was my daughter. I had a night light in the hallway outside my bedroom door, while sitting at the computer I could see out the door of the spare bedroom when all of a sudden there was a shadow like someone just walked past the nightlight. I figured my wife got up to use the bathroom but the light never went on. I got up passing my daughters room...she is still in bed....looked in the bathroom....no one there...turned and went to my room and my wife was still sleeping.......no pets in the house at the time so there was no one that could have passed between the light and me casuing that shadow!! The hair on the back of my neck were standing straight up at the point.....I searched the rest of the house and found nothing out of the ordinary. This happed several times over a period of a few months then stopped. I am getting goose bumps now just thinking about it.

True story, and one I've rationalized as having a science-based rationale behind it, but stilll?
We were moving to another state. Wife was already in the other state starting her new job with our daughter, I stayed behind a couple of days to close up the house and pack us up and move.
It's late at night, dark, I'm alone in the house in the kitchen. Kitchen has a cutout window looking into the living room.
There is not a single thing on in the house as I'm getting ready for bed. Suddenly, I hear clearly and audibly "I wish you'd turn this thing up so you could hear me." (it may have said "on" instead of "up). Male voice, quite distinct, not garbled at all, sounded like it was coming through an electronic medium (i.e. it was "radio" quality maybe, but somewhat better). Not one of those "did I just heard something?" bits of random noise, but a clearly spoken sentence.
Spooked the crap out of me. I mean, "holy cow what if there really is something out there but it's in HERE with me?" type of spooked. Cranked on every light in the house, searched every room with something in my hand like a broom handle. Nada.
Everything was off, no one in the house, locked up tight, nothing electronic on other than fridge.
Now, in the living room was our stereo system. It was plugged in, but still off. My guess was that some freak of electronics, copper wiring, antenna action, whatever, picked up a random CB burst and played it on the speakers of the stereo system. Sort of like people who hear radios playing on their fillings under the right circumstances. I'm positive it was some random electronic freak occurance like that.
Damned if it didn't spook the crap out of me though. Think I slept with the lights on that night.
===============
Other weird thing that happened to me happened when I was a teenager. Woke up out of a sound sleep, had that presence of mind that told me I was clearly awake in my bed. Couldn't move. Not a muscle, not an eyelid, 100% completely paralyzed. Scared the crap out of me. Then I felt a presence in the room. I thought it was my mom, and I thought "she'll figure out there's something wrong with me and get me help!" Still scared, but had that feeling my mom would help me. I felt the presence sit on my bed -- don't know if I really felt the bed move, but I felt the presence sit next to me on the bed. Suddenly my whole body jerked, my eyes popped open, and.... I'm all alone in my room with the door closed.
Presumably one of those lucid waking dreams, but damned if I wasn't convinced I was awake already and again, scared the crud out of me.
==========
I remain a skeptic, but I do get that shiver up my spine every now and then...

I was going to ask if you had speakers anywhere in the house, 'cuz that's what it was. I live in a third floor apartment, just above and *immediately* adjacent to a busy intersection, and my desktop computer speakers often scream entire sentences at me. Clearly audible, but with an overall electronic 'noise'...and it happens when I've got no sound pumping through the computer.
Like you guessed; your speakers just picked up a CB signal.

The part that got me though was that it was powered off. This is back in the day when powered off means off, and not just asleep. Physical toggle switch that makes it all go dark. Still, guess there was electricity in there somewhere....

I have had a lot more experiances as a child then an adult. I remember reading or being told that children are more in tune with paranormal things then adults are.
Skip forward many years: My daughter went through a time when she was having nightmares that would continue once you are awake.....they are called night terrors....they are lots of fun :dizzy:
So one night I wake up to a shreaking coming from my daughters room, I bolt up and run in followed by my wife. My daughter is riveted to her headboard staring and pointing into the corner saying something like, they are over there. I turn the lights on show her there is nothing there and it takes about 15 minutes to calm her down and she now seems fully awake, scared, but awake. She is now done sleeping in her room for the night and is going to sleep with us. On the way she stops, uses the bathroom and gets a drink. In total we were probably up for close to a half hour, we get into my room and climb into bed when she pushes away from me and slides toward her mother side, she is again wide eyed and pointing near me saying there comming!!! Daddy their comming IT"S TOUCHING YOUR SHOULDER!!!!!! Screaming, pointing and generally freaking the ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- outta me! She will not stop and she will not get anywhere near me.
Finally half for effect and half for god knows what I smack my shoulder and get up and swing in the general direction she is pointing in. She said it was gone, she was crying and shaking.........Paranormal......No clue..........and absolute 11 outta 10 on my weird-o-meter though. I did think back and remember that kids are more in tune to that type of thing.
That was probably 7-8 yrs ago, she is 12 now and she remembers it well.
I tend to be somewhat of a skeptic, but somethings I would rather accept that have it show up on my doorstep going....See I am real.....

I remain a skeptic, but I do get that shiver up my spine every now and then...
I'm a skeptic too. In fact, I'd say you possibly experienced 'sleep paralysis'...even better, scientists have been able to stimulate the brain, and conjure up 'shadow people' too. So you also (possibly) encountered erratic synaptic functioning in that particular region of the brain, and in turn, felt the 'otherness' of your own self-conscience. Damn.
http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2006/09/060920-shadow-person.html
Anyhow, I reeeeeeally want to see something paranormal, and be unable to explain it, but I'm probably the most skeptical person alive. I have, so far, been able to find a reasonable explaination for the few 'freaky' occurances that I've encountered...all except for one. Which I'll share tomorrow. When I have more time to write it. I still don't think it's paranormal, but I can not, for the life of me, explain it away.
-
I'm positive it was some random electronic freak occurance like that.
About two weeks ago at work, I was on the phone with a customer and he tells me he can hear Rush Limbaugh on the phone line. I explained to him about radio waves, cordless phones (copper bones, westward foams, triple stones.)
I had just read through your thread in Politics about Rush (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=59423.0). Jungian synchronicity at work?...or something more SUPERNATURAL!?

Ok another True Story...
My mother always told us kids that she can see ghost. That the
old house where she grew up was very much haunted.. and many stories
came from that. So.. we grew up with open minds... which I believe is
one reason why some can see these things, and some do not.
Anyway.. we lived in a small country-ish town in upstate ny. The place
was a fairly modern Appartment complex. Ours has 2 floors and a basement.
I was about 11yrs old. I never drank (till age 25), never did
any drugs. Wasnt on any meds. Never had any paranormal
experinces of any kind, before this.
I was thirsty in the middle of the night. Maybe 2am.
I got up from bed, and walked to the staircase to go down and get a
drink.
The staircase had a high ceiling, and had a light hung up there. The light
was on, and the entire hallway and stairs were brightly lit. The stairs had
2 sections going in opposite directions, and a 4*6 platform in between them.
As I was about to take a step down... I peered down at the landing.
There was a translucent white 'ghost' of an old woman. She was very vivid
and clear. She was rocking in a chair, knitting... a mere 12 ft away from me!
I was so stunned.. that all my muscles Froze.
I watched the woman for several moments... all the while, I thought...
"Am I really seeing this!?"
I pinched my arm very hard. It hurt.. and she was still there.
Then, I bit my tounge. It also hurt, tasted of blood ..and she was still
there. I was Not asleep for sure! ... and she WAS there.
My mind was racing with thoughts at a million per second. I thought
"What should I do?!" "Maybe I should try to talk to it?!" "What should I
say?!"
But then, my mind remembered the movie Ghost Busters.. where the little
old lady turned into a giant monster.. and as soon as I thought that, I bolted
like lightning back to the bed. Undercover, shivering in fear.
Funny now when looking back at it.. as what harm could a lady knitting
pose?! heh But when you see something like that.. it completely
unexpected and nothing you can prepare yourself for. You litterally
freeze from the shock/disbelief/fear/panic..etc.
Later in the years, I had seen the occasional black blur fly accross the
room. I thought someone was in the house. Searched all over, nothing
there but us kids. Never saw another ghost again.. Im now 33.
Ive got more volitle/unbelievable/amazing stories from my mother,
confirmed by her sister.. as well as some freaky supernatural stuff I
had experienced later in life when
I was exploring "New-Age" related things...
Performing meditations and psychic related activities.
But, Ill leave that out for now. I may later publish them on a new site
someday.
Believe it or Not.. I really could care lesss. I post this to tell
people, so that thier minds may open a bit more. And to share
with the people who also have seen/heard/felt these things.

I remember one night I was up late surfing the net....nothing new.... the wife was sound asleep as was my daughter.
This one is easily explainable. It's guiltly conscience of looking up porn while your wife is in the next room. :laugh2: :laugh2:

Well I certianly would not have minded a ghost of what I was looking at. :laugh2:

The part that got me though was that it was powered off. This is back in the day when powered off means off, and not just asleep. Physical toggle switch that makes it all go dark. Still, guess there was electricity in there somewhere....
Hey saint,
Is the speaker in question active or passive?
I ask because if the speaker is passive is it extremely unlikely that it would be picking up a CB transmission and replaying it. The CB transmission needs to be powerful enough to actually power your speaker (i.e. move the cone), and there is the fact that you speaker's frequency response is probably in the range of 15kHz, while a CB transmits at 30 mHz.
It's very hard to get physical things to vibrate at 30 mHz, unless they are very small.
However, have you experienced the Nextel effect in which you put your phone next to a speaker and the speaker starts to click? This is because those phones spray a ton of crap, and the diodes in the speaker react to the noise and are able to provide a voltage to the speaker, which makes it move.
So, if your speaker makes use of diodes, then maybe it would click in reaction to noise over the air, but a clear sentence -- nope.
After re-reading your post, it sounds like your speaker may have been active -- if that is true, then the story changes.

I finished toweling off and opened the curtain. To my amazement, the tweezers were back on the countertop -- right where they were at the start of this story.
Where do I get one of these ghost maids... seriously! My appartment is a pig-sty!

Here's the other story I spoke of earlier. It's the only 'unexplainable' occurrence in my life. I will *always* err on the side of some scientific explanation, but for this event...I can find none.
Me and my fiance' used to rent the bottom floor of a two family house in an old Massachusetts town, most famous for it's Victorian-era manufacturing of leather boots and other women's goods. The landlord and his wife lived above us on the second floor. We both had access to the basement (washer/dryer/storage).
One afternoon, I went down to do some laundry. I worked from home at the time, my fiancé' was away at the office. No one else was in my apartment above. However, as I began to throw the clothes in the machine, I heard (very distinctly) the sound of someone quickly clomping across the wooden floor of my apartment, right inside my living room, heading towards the front door. Our floors were so thin, in fact, that the sound came through clearly enough that I heard the heel-toe, heel-toe pattern and grit beneath the soles. We lived in an extremely bad part of town, and I was convinced that someone had entered my apartment, and was probably in the process of taking something out. "Did I leave the front door open?", I asked myself as I grabbed a 3ft piece of lead pipe and slowly made my way upstairs to confront the intruder.
But alas, when I peaked into the living room, nobody was there and my two cats were both asleep in their beds (they would have disappeared in an instant, had someone even approached the front porch). The front door was closed, and locked. Scratching my head, I went back to the laundry.
When my fiancé got home, I related the story - without much detail - to her...She looked at me with astonishment and took me down into the basement where she asked me, "Did it sound like boots?"
"Yeah", I answered.
"Did it sound like they were moving fast; from here, heading to here?" See pointed to the *exact* locations I had heard the sound above me.
"Uuuhhh...Yeah", I hesitantly replied.
"Well, I've heard it also, twice before. I never told you because I know how you are, and I knew you'd probably think I was crazy. And you remember when I asked you months ago to move my dresser, the one with the mirror on it, so that it was no longer pointing towards the corner closet?"
"Yeah, that was so much fun, how could I forget!", I countered. "Well, I asked you to move it because I saw something reflected in it one morning. Something that scared me so badly, I never wanted to see it again."
"There standing behind me, was the very clear image of a women, wearing older style clothes. She stood by that closet, you know, the one that always made me uncomfortable, the closet that was reflected in the mirror?", she continued, "Thee very closet which my cousin Jennie, the Wiccan, when she came to visit, pointed to and said – without any prompting from me – 'that thing makes me uncomfortable, I’ve got to get out of this room'", "You know the one, right?"
“Great”, I said. “I’m marrying into a family of lunatics.”
…And that’s where it stayed, for several months. Until one day, we pulled up in our drive-way, where our landlord was outside the basement side-door cutting wood.
“Oh”, he said. “Are you guys just getting home?”
“Yeah, we’ve been gone for the weekend”, I replied.
“That’s weird, because I heard someone walking around in your apartment just a while ago. My wife hasn’t been home all day, and she wouldn’t just go in there without your permission anyhow. That’s weird. I must have been mistaken.”
“Could you point out where you heard this?”
He then proceeded to point to the exact same location that both myself and my fiancé had heard the noise before. We never related this story to him, nor anyone else, since my fiance’ thinks it will make her look crazy, and I was certain, up until this point, that it could be explained away.
There are no heating ducts, or water pipes in that area, or anywhere even near it. There is no other possible way I can think of to recreate the distinct sound that we all heard, and I cannot, to this day, find any explanation for what it was; those sounds of quickly paced boot steps across my living room floor.
We have since moved out of that place, but recent events have only heightened my fiance’s retroactive fear of those events. It was related to us, just several weeks ago through a relative of the landlord, that he had killed himself in that house. They didn’t tell us how, and they didn’t know why (he didn’t leave a note)…and to be honest, I don’t think I want to know.
We both used to have horribly bad dreams when we lived there, and our bedroom, the one with the closet, was always 5-10 degrees colder than the rest of the house. Even in the summer.
Those things stand out to me still. But I explain the coldness away based on the direction of the house and the number of windows in the bedroom. I've explained to dreams away, because we where going through a particularly difficult time when we lived there. But all of it, taken together, is enough to give me pause.

In High School I used to do Rune divination. Basically you cast certain numbers of wood pieces with runes on them and then divine things based on how close certain runes are to each other, if ones fall far away from the pile, and which pieces fall right-side up and upside-down (upside-down can indicate the opposite meaning).
Anyways, I did a reading over if my Grandad's furniture factory would still be around in a year and came to the conclusion that the company would still be around, but would be handed over to someone else. He retired and sold the company to someone else.
Also, I used to do a general reading each morning and most mornings nothing interesting came up. Then one morning, I read that there would be violent changes and that day my dad got on to me all day to stop reading runes. Lots of arguing. But in the end I gave up all of that stuff because he showed me in the Bible where it says God hates diviners, magicians, sooth-sayers, etc. And honestly, thats good enough for me if the Bible says it.
Disagree if you want, I don't really care. I still believe in alot of things like that even if I don't do them anymore.

True story:
About 6 months after we had our daughter, my wife was out with the kid grocery shopping. It was pouring rain here, so I laid down on the couch. Before I go on here, I must add we've had strange things happen in this house, and I DID pinch myself to make sure I was awake while all this was actually happening.
Anyway, laid down on the couch, and took a nap. When I woke up, I heard my child crying. I thought, oh thank goodness they're home, because the rain was very heavy. So, I went in the kitchen to help put the groceries away and no one was there.
I went back in to our living room, and at this point I start pinching myself, because the crying is louder now and it's outside our door. I thought "oh, she just got home and she's put the bags down to get her key; I"ll open the door for her." Opened the door, no wife, no kid.
Close the door and now the crying is almost deafening....I run to the little one's room, nothing. Are they in our bedroom? No, nothing there either. I go back to the living room and for about 5 more minutes and the crying abruptly stopped. Shaken beyond words, I went back to the couch and tried to relax.
About 15 minutes later, the wife and little one did get home....once she put the groceries down, I told her the same story I just told you. She asked me about how long ago the events I described took place, and I told her about 20 - 25 minutes earlier. She went white as a sheet and grasped the cabinet. She said "Oh my god...." and went on to add that our daughter was crying because she was hungry....my wife had to pull over and stop the car to feed her. Once she did, the little one was fine. So to sum up, at the EXACT time my little one was fussing, Daddy heard her crying in the house, though no one was here.
I'll tell you like I've told my students for years. If it had just been a baby's cries, I would have run for the hills. Those of you with kids though KNOW what your child's cry sounds like. There's never been one doubt in my mind it was her. And NO, I had not been drinking.
I've got another I'll share with you later....do ghosts exist? Don't know that I would attest to it, but I have damn sure had some weird experiences in this house and in my life.....I have a HEALTHY respect for 'em, I assure you of that!
-
What is it with you people and pinching yourself to see if you're awake. I've been in fistfights in dreams, I've been shot, I've been slapped, I've had sex, I've jumped off a second-floor balcony into a pool. What would happen if someone were to pinch me while I was dreaming? Would I immediately wake up? Is it impossible to dream about pinching?
Anyway, I have two. One is actually just an incredibly bizarre dream, but not really paranormal. But kind of creepy. The second is full-on, poltergeist haunting.
As a kid I spent many nights sleeping on the trampoline in the back yard. One night I woke up in the middle of the night. The moon was pretty bright -- not full, but I could see pretty well. I looked over at the house. It, and the rest of the back yard were fairly well lit by the moonlight, but the shadows at the sides of the house obscured them in pitch darkness. I was just laying there looking at the house for a few moments when suddenly, and simultaneously Jason Voorhees (Friday the 13th) and Freddy Krueger stepped out from the shadows at either side of my house. This was quite unexpected. Naturally it startled the hell out of me and I immediately woke up (didn't realize until this point that I was dreaming). But when I opened my eyes I was looking at exactly, ---smurfing--- EXACTLY the same scene (minus the fictional characters). Light levels were the same. My position on the trampoline was the same. The sides of the house were obscured exactly the same. Every last detail was the same, and I swear to god I was about to be visited by a couple of unfriendly fellows. :) Talk about a weird feeling. In case anyone was wondering, they never showed up.
Now to delve into my one, honest to god encounter with the unexplained - my one paranormal experience.
One day, during Summer vacation, my sister and I were the only ones home. My sister was in the bathroom taking a bath and I decided to make some OJ (from concentrate). I went into the kitchen, grabbed a pitcher and a can of OJ from the freezer and proceeded to mix it with three cans of cold tap water. I mixed it for a long time (it takes forever for that damned block of OJ concentrate to dissolve), and when it was finally finished I turned around, opened the refrigerator door, and put the OJ into the fridge. I then walked across the kitchen floor, opened the cupboard, grabbed a glass, walked back to the refrigerator , opened the fridge door and . . . no OJ. WTF? I just put the OJ in there like 15 seconds ago. Where's the OJ? I looked back at the counter where I had made it. Nothing. Freezer? Nothing. I opened every cupboard in the kitchen. Nothing. I even opened every drawer in the kitchen. I then went to the bathroom, where I could still hear my sister splashing around in the bathtub and said, "Sarah, did you come out and get orange juice," and she was like, "What?"
15 seconds -- 30 tops. I was never more than 6 or 7 feet from the fridge. Where did it go? Never found it. Never found the pitcher again either. Gone forever.
Anyway. I know these things are supposed to have a nefarious flavor to them, but mine didn't. It was just a pitcher of OJ disappearing. What can I say? Ghosts apparently aren't out to make me pee my pants. They just like to ---fudgesicle--- with me (and/or they are thirsty). ;D
-
Aw, c'mon... someone do an OJ joke.....

I used to have a haunted Darth Vader model. The thing would get up and move around when the lights were off, I kid you not. Not like running across the room or anything, but moving a foot or so. I told my friends about it and they said I was full of it, until I made them come over and night and turned the lights off. We were grown (about 16-18 in ages) and the time mind you and as freaked out as I was I've never seen anything funnier than a 230 lb man booking it out of the room shrieking in terror! :) The dang thing turned it's head around and looked at us! Well the next day I smashed that thing to bits and it hasn't bothered anyone since. It's a shame too, seeing as how it was a vintage model I got at a star trek convention.
Honestly though, it was probably just some wierd property of the model that made it look like it was moving when looking at certain angles.
I've gotta think that full-on "ghosts" are bunk. I mean when there hasn't been a single pic or video clip captured in the history of mankind and the "experts" are guys that work at roto-rooter you've gotta think that there isn't much to it.
-
Ghosts are not Bunk. Ive seen one clear as hell, from a distance of
a mere 12ft away from me. Ive posted the story here.
People have not always had a camera ready to capture a ghost.
Its not like you actually expect to see one. And when you do,
your Frozen in shock and fear - like a deer peering into headlights.
The images that are captured now, are always going to be disputed,
because today its fairly easy to fake things digitally.
However, there are plenty of people, who have seen things, who will
tell you their stories if you ask them. People who have good reputations,
who do not Lie... and who it would be more beneficial Not too tell
the stories for fear of their reputations being smeared by the disbelievers.
One key factor in seeing such things.. is that if you dont believe they
exist, you literally can not experience them. Think of it like a Radio...
We are all tuned into channel 98. However, they reside on channel 100.
You can only witness them if you allow yourself to tune into that
station. Usually fear causes a suspension of your believe that there
are no such things... which then leads you to be open to being able
to experience them.
Similarly, they are not powerful enough to be harmful, unless you believe
so. I believe this is how people are possessed... because they believe
that they have no power over the spirit.. and allow it to take over them.
I believe Poltergeist, are not a single entity... but rather, many spirits
that work together 'pooling' their energies to amazing levels. A real
rarity.
Real Witches? We all can be trained to be intuitive. However, I believe
those who have exceptional powers - are those who have a single or 'set'
of spirit(s) who act on their behalf. A very dangerous game to play.
Ive experienced quite a lot of supernatural things, mostly by choice
and seeking it out. I was fortunate not to play on the dark side however.
But Ive heard plenty of bad happinings from people who did.
-
Use the force Xiaou2. Use the force!

Anybody here watch the show Supernatural? Apparently its a documentary.

So your saying if i cant see you then you cannot see me?
You mean the movie?
-
I believe there are Universal laws set in place... as think about it... If
it were so easy for a spirit to cause humans trouble, all hell would be
breaking loose on a massive uninterrupted scale.
However, these laws can be bent and broken - if you choose or allow
it to happen.
Reality is much more than what we see and feel physically. Its based
on a foundation of things that are beyond scientific understandings.
People are most comfortable with the ideas of limitations on what they
know and experience, and so often lash out and shut out any possibility
that they feel is outside their chosen box size. However, that does
not change the truth.
Just as there were thousands who thought the earth was flat.. and
would fight and smear others in disbelief... again, it didnt change the
real truth. And as advanced as Science is today, its barely scratched
the surface of the depths of the knowledge and workings of the
thing we call reality.

ROTFLMAO!!!
Sorry man, but that sounds like religion to me, NOT science. ALL things, even ghosts can be explained by science, and if they can't then they don't exist. It's as simple as that. I didn't say that people seeing things was bunk (Although usually some scientific explaination is behind it, regardless of how fantastical it appeared to them at the time) I said ghosts were bunk. There is a BIG difference. I have not doubt that there are ways to see "supernatural" things, but what I mean is, it isn't a dead person, it's something else. A rip in a dimensional barrier, unique properties in a room "recording" an event, ect... but NOT a spirit of some person.
It's common sense really, if "ghosts" were actual people we'd have proof by now because at least one dead guy would be willing to manifest himself for some proof.
-
The question is... are you sure there is no proof? People have pics, footage, recordings
and more. Are you so sure these are all fake?
As for manifestation... as I said, this depends on the persons perception. If they allow
themselves to be able to see that spirit or not. So while I might be able to see it,
maybe you do not.
However, the other factor is - Do they see you too? Realistically, they can not be
experiencing life the same way in that form. Even Vision is not the same - as there are no
physical eyes. (nor ears) While some may be lucid to the earthly world, some
may be tuned into a whole different channel, and not even see or are conscious of
human presence.
There are those who can hear the spirits.. thru a sort of telepathy or channeling,
etc.. but how would one really prove it?
On Ghost Hunters, they asked the spirit to drop the temperature of the room down
to a certain degree.. and the spirit was able to do so. (like 10 degrees, and only
in that one small spot) Is it real? Ive heard similar stories of temperature dropping
in spiritual presences.. including from my mother (who sees them often, and vividly clear).
Religion is what it sounds like, because in a way.. thats what it involves. Its life
after death. A consciousness, that exists beyond the physical body.
This is most disturbing and too hard for most to swallow, because that would mean
they would have to shoot down their own ideas about religion.
-
The question is... are you sure there is no proof? People have pics, footage, recordings

Depends. Do you base your logic on a religion or science?

Certainly not evidence of the afterlife, but it is evidence of weird stuff happening that defies an educated scientific explanation... what can you conclude when there is no conclusion?

I've told my only personal "ghost" experience on the first page, but I apparently have a new one to tell, but not as entertaining.
First off, my wife has told me on many occasions that she has heard footsteps in our house, and has even "saw" a man in the hallway before. She is home alone all day, so in most cases I just chalk it up to active imagination. (I heard footsteps in my house as a kid too since I was a latch-key child most of the time).
Anyways, every since we have come here, things have turned up missing in strange ways over and over. For instance, I will see a tool sitting in a spot for weeks that I don't have a use for, but when I have a use, it is gone and absolutely nowhere to be found. Then after I have compromised and don't need it anymore, it will show up in the same place I saw it before in a week or two. Most of the time I just chalk these instances up to poor organization or me or the wife moving it but forgetting about it. However, some of the times are just plain odd if you know what I mean. We often joke that we have a gnome that likes to play tricks on us, but some of these incidents do really spook us.
Last night, one of those odd situations came about again. We always keep the nose syringe for our baby on the shelf under the changing table. Well, we went to look for it and it was nowhere to be found. I mean I looked EVERYWHERE more than once. I swore my wife left it somewhere in the house, and she swore she left it right where it always is. Anyways, both of us had tore apart that shelf several times apiece during our frustrating search. The next morning as we are getting ready to leave to go to the store to buy a new one, the wife looks down at the shelf and notices something. There that damn syringe was right on the shelf where it always is. We both just kind of looked at each other and at the same time said "No way, that thing was NOT there last night".
-
"About one-third of people believe they could be ghosts."
I see dead people...
but do you think you could be a dead person?
Its distinctly possible. It would explain the lack of laughs to my attempts at humor.
-
When my wife and I go for long drives, we read to each other. Usually she does the driving and I do the reading because my voice doesn't get tired and recently my wife has developed a propensity for motion sickness. One day we were driving up to southern Idaho (from Utah) during the night time. I had been reading for a while and I looked up and said, "Stacy . . . is the sky red?" It looked like a normal, starry night sky, but it just had a distinctly reddish hue. She said, "That's weird, it does kind of look red, doesn't it? It must just be something reflecting off our windows." There was a radar detector with some red LEDs and, of course, the dashboard lights. But it just didn't sit right with me. Finally I opened my window (it was the middle of winter so my wife started yelling at me). I was like, "No . . . it's still red. WTF?" We figured it must just be light pollution from some city (though there were no large cities very nearby).
A day or two later we happened to catch a news report that the Northern Lights were visible abnormally far south, in northern states like Michigan, for example. I'm sure that's what it was. Pretty weird at the time, though.
-

Its distinctly possible. It would explain the lack of laughs to my attempts at humor.
I believe the problem comes from a lack of smilies in your posts. Modern culture has been warped by laugh tracks used in television sitcoms, so now the only way to get people to laugh is by telling them its time to laugh....or your attempt at humor just wasn't funny ;D

I'm a skeptic and have had no personal experiences of my own. My wife is a strong believer in the paranormal and claims to have lived in a haunted house when she was a kid, things moving around, unexplained shrieking and screaming, etc... She was born in Amityville, NY so who knows.
We do watch Ghost Hunters every week and they seem to have had some pretty hard to explain evidence. Anyway, they are doing a live investigation tonight (they've done one the last few years on Halloween) starting at 7pm on Sci Fi. So, that's our big plans for this evening.

I do not have much luck with spooks or ghosts, as I really have no active imagination to get my senses going - like terror from watching movies. I mean when I go to a horror show I laugh a lot and I guess it spoils it for others. Maybe it was my extensive collection of Fangoria magazines that made me immune. Rob Bottin was a hero of mine....
But I had two experiences that would wig you out if it happened to you, and one scenario that scared several family members to a point (well not my immediate family members - just to make it clear first we are not blood related) where one of my in-laws is in the nut house because of it.
First example was when I was 13 years old. I went to sleep one Sunday night (as there was no adult movies on Select TV that night - I had it in my room and my Dad didn't know what was on late at night) and had a very good sleep, woke up ready to go to school. Except when I woke I was totally blind. I was awake, stubbed my toes on the end of the bed, looking for the light switch, flicked the switch on and I still could not see anything.
Talk about panic. I was crying for my Dad, who came in and put me back into bed and told me to go back to sleep, so it must have been still early in the morning, so I went back to bed and went back to sleep. When I woke my sight had returned, but I had to miss football practice as I broke 3 of my toes. I do not sleepwalk and my Dad said my eyes were wide open, and it freaked him silly. Figure that one out. Blame it on Select TV.
Second Experience was at work. I used to work at an old textile mill, converted to a call centre. The mill had several accidents in its famous past. A fire in the basement killed several people, and it was claimed that it is near impossible to go into the basement as the feeling of "something in there with you" is pretty strong.
But I digress... In one of the woman's bathrooms (as used today) used to be a store room. In that store room a little girl died of strangulation with the fibers or cotton, rope -whatever. And the little girl's presence is still in the same place. It was not unusual to hear screams from the ladies going in there.
Apparently the stall doors open or close on their own and they can hear a whimpering voice. It happens in the evening so when you are on the night shift - you can get some pretty upset women running out of there on occasion. I always wanted to know why they went in the bathroom in twos and threes...
I went in there with two male managers - and it was a feeling like someone was watching you. Probably some pervert with a camera and a speaker... :laugh2:
Finally our famous in-law family spooky story. To make a long story short - My sister-in-laws parents were German, and escaped Germany at the start of WWII. Either they were Jewish or Gypsies they fled Nazi Germany aided by a priest. They escaped Germany and settled in the USA, but the priest was captured, tortured and executed by the Nazis.
So years on before my Brother married my sister-in-law, my brothers grew up and went to school with their family, and when I came along my future sister-in-law looked after me and was my babysitter on many occasions. It was through this time I learned about the garage.
Now they were a large family many brothers and sisters, and they did not go into the garage alone. I was not allowed unless I was accompanied. It appeared that the kind priest's "spirit" was somehow in the vicinity of the garage as things move about, odd noises loud enough to hear outside. You ask a question about it and they hushed you up. I thought it was a cat or animal caught in there. I opened the garage door once and had a look around. Nothing but cobwebs. But you would know something was up. Something you could not put your finger on.
The Spirit interacted with you when you least expected it to. My brother-in-law told me of a time he was asleep and woke to find he could not get up, and the record player started. All he had to do was say "leave me alone" and he was released. The sowing machine started once when I was there, while it was unplugged.
I never had any bad experiences there as the family was like my own family. We had so much fun together, fishing, BBQs etc. That the garage wasn't even mentioned. Something must have happened to that in-law who is now institutionalized.....
I would have moved, but they lived there until they all got married and moved away. I guess it was a legacy they all endured, or at least one does still.
I do not believe in Ghosts. But life serves up some pretty weird stuff that I cannot explain. :dizzy:

when i was younger, maybe 7 or 8, i was sleeping on the floor next to my mothers bed. in the middle of the night, i sat up and at the base of my feet was a girl reading a book with her legs crossed. she was all white and had sort of glow to her. i quickly pulled the covers over my head and told myself it was a dream. however i was sure i was awake. i let the covers down slowly and she was still there. again i pulled the covers over my head and remember lying there, squeezing my eyes shut as hard as possible. i eventually fell asleep.
a short time after that, on a different night, i was again sleeping on the floor. i awoke again in the middle of the night and saw the same girl. only this time she was sitting on my mothers hope chest. again reading a book. she never said anything, nor did she ever look at me. i dont know why but when i saw her the second time, i wasnt as scared and i remember i just rolled over and went to bed. it was as if i felt safer that she was there. my mother to this day thinks she was watching over me.
have never seen her again since then.
other than that, ive had a few situations that were just strange. only one i really remember was it was late at night and i had been looking for something under the stairs. my father was getting ready for bed and told me to do the same. on his way up the stairs, he told me not to forget to shut the light off under the stairs before i went up. i went ahead and shut the light off, shut the door, and headed up to bed. while upstairs i remembered i had forgotten something downstairs. i went down and there stood the door wide open with the light on. and i know i shut it off.

We both used to have horribly bad dreams when we lived there, and our bedroom, the one with the closet, was always 5-10 degrees colder than the rest of the house. Even in the summer.
Man, gotta get me some o them for next summer. All them folks hangin and goofin around when they could be of some sincere help.
Back again!
... because sometimes, things
just
won't
DIE
(the power of Christ compelled propelled me)
Fixed.
I can't hardly wait until I'm dead and have nothing better to do than float around and screw with the living.
::)
I know, huh? Basically, it's been described to me that these things are attached to life they no longer are a part of, and the best thing to do is to wish them off well.
Pretty cool.
Time to get Amazing Randi involved.

I don't recommend hanging out at his forums unless you're into the the nazi brigade thing. It seems to be the ultra-anti-anti-science haven. Many of them are scientists, too.
...but what I mean is, it isn't a dead person, it's something else. A rip in a dimensional barrier, unique properties in a room "recording" an event, ect... but NOT a spirit of some person.
A...dimensional rift. Like, that's any different? Maybe they're the same thing?...or go together??
There was a time with a girlfriend and her daugher some years ago. This was in the mid afternoon, actually, no blinds on the windows, fully lit: we're in her daughter's bedroom, and all of a sudden she starts freaking out about someone coming to get her. Like she could see them, but they weren't there in the room. Like in a different space-time but viewable to each other. I got a little spooked, because I didn't think she was playing or was mental, and it wasn't something I was into if it was going to be a bad thing - you know, like not wanting to have to fight someone but preparing for it if it's seen coming - so we tried to assure her nothing was wrong and she eventually calmed down on her own.
My own direct experiences have mostly been of the mystical sort rather than horrific, which I think is partly because I don't have a mind and preference for the horrific.

This is most disturbing and too hard for most to swallow, because that would mean
they would have to shoot down their own ideas about religion.
I guess that depends on what religion you believe.
As a christian I know there are no ghosts. When people die they go on a one way trip upstairs or downstairs. Nothing remains here.
There are "demons" that inhabit the earth and we generally can't directly interact with them. Why? I'd say they've changed their methods and don't really need to anymore to accomplish their purpose.
The point I'm making is that my religion identifies and describes supernatural phenomenon, but offers a different explanation than "ghosts". I don't know what religion you're referring to, but I think you may need to shoot down your idea of religion.

Nobody can know the unknown. I dont care what you are. I especially find it
offensive when someone claims to possess the truth and is somehow above everyone
else.
Until you are dead, you dont know any more than anyone else. All your beliefs
have no bearing on the truth. They are mere OPINIONS until you can prove
otherwise.
Until that time, turn off your "Holier than Thou" Attitude!
If you want to tell people your OPINIONS, then make sure to phase them as
such. Such as "As a christian, I believe that there are no ghosts." Dont claim
to tell me or ANYONE ELSE what IS TRUTH!

Every Monday morning I wake up dead to the world. It takes me 4 cups of Verona just to determine if I am still dead or awake. ;D
This forum is EE not PnR. Please let us not confuse or infuse this thread with religion. I have seen things and experienced enough to stop rationalizing things. If I encounter a cold spot or an apparition, I do not get my bible out and look for a solution or explanation.
There are so many things we don't understand, and to be honest I'm not in a hurry to figure out. Let's be spooky and leave it at that. Besides what if we are wrong about how our world works and these things we see, feel and touch are real? I know.. But what IF? :o

That's funny, coming from you! :laugh2: :laugh2:
It's true, this ain't the PNR board. I'm not gonna respond anymore.

Well, no police can arrest you for rape, I suppose is one way of looking at that.
Paranormal... :duckhunt What a humorous load of crap.

So, if you die suddenly, and actually have loved ones who you care greatly about...
You wouldnt want to try to see what they are up to?
There are said to be a few main reasons why souls stick around. One pertains
to being in a violent death. In which the soul is tormented and does not respond
to being guided into the next realm of existence (reincarnation) by other helper souls.
The other is as I posted... about now wanting to leave the side of loved ones.
Other reasons:
Belief systems. Some spirits are said to follow their corpse all the way to the
ground... in which they will then wait for the day when Jesus will pull them out.
Angry/Wicked souls - In which a psycho soul cant be tamed/convinced. Sticks around to
make trouble, as it did in its lifetime. May possibly join forces with other like
souls to gain more power in the physical realm... which is what I believe is what
a Poltergeist really is.
Non human vigilant souls are said to exist... and who knows how and why they do.
Possibly they are from other planes of existence.
It would seem also, that the Spiritual realm is not quite as clear as the physical..
where as its almost like a continual dreamworld to some of them. They get
confused and stuck in patterns... as if living in a loop of a repeating event.
Of course, there are those who believe that some of these apparitions are merely
some sort of imprint in time/space. Sort of like a hologram of a past event that
has been imprinted in the universe.
On the other hand... there are intelligent hauntings... in which the spirits will
interact with a person in realtime.
Paranormal... What a humorous load of crap.
Really? Explain how the universe was formed from the very first atom?
How was all the material here to start out with?
How is it even possible that things have any form of Consciousness?
Creations and Life itself is a miracle beyond explanation. Its very much on the
same exact level of the LABEL of Paranormal.

I ponder these quite often. These questions have substance. They are worth thinking about, even if you know you'll never find an answer.
I don't ponder the existence of ghosts or the like. Nothing even remotely suggests to me that they exist.

Good for you Hypernova. An Open mind is really a good attribute... and you are
right... that these things and many more really drive home how magical this universe
really is... and how precious a gift life really is.
As for me, Ive seen a few Ghost. But they were harmless. However, that cant
be said for a select few others whom Ive talked to.
For me... I seek the higher truths. I dont like being told 'what is what'. I do research
on my own... and use patterns and connections to make assessments. Leaving out a
section of the pie (such as Ghost/Spirits) would create a hole that needed to be filled.
One can ponder so many possibilities... and yet, there are many we do not want to
ponder... because they are frightening, unthinkable, unfavorable, Yet, that does not
mean that they are not True... or part of the Truth. So, I TRY to be flexible, and
take an observers point of view rather than be sided towards a biased viewpoint.
No matter what though... I will always favor certain points of views and side with
certain aspects. Its very hard not to be that way.
I kinda believe that the universe really wasnt meant to be fully understood (the
mind of man probably couldnt handle all that information).. but instead, merely enjoyed and experienced.
