I picked up a pole position standup cab with an electrohome g07 19" in it.
The previous owner said it worked fine until he "moved" the cabinet from one floor to another of his home. After I get it home, I looked around in the back, turns out there were NO bolts holding the front of the monitor down, so when he tipped it back to move it, the neckboard met the backboard of the cab.
It's obvious he "tried" to fix it, one of the worst solder patch jobs I've ever seen (see pic).
I removed his crap fixes, cleaned it up, and jumpered all the broken traces properly, everything checks out continuity-wise.
Plugged it back in, fired it up, and I have the high pitched noise (raster is it called?), but no glow in the neck.
I used an old commodore 1084s to test the board, and it's putting out video just fine.
I have no idea if the wiring IN the neck was damaged, etc...
Is it worth doing any more on this thing seeing as how it sustained physical damage?
I'd hate to get a chassis, only to find out the tube itself was damaged, since it has so much burn in..
Thanks in advance for any advice!

I seriously don’t think the chassis is bad. Maybe a small chance it got messed up if when it got plugged in with the cracked neck board it caused a short and fried some things on the chassis, but that’s really unlikely. I would triple check all the traces with a volt meter for continuity. Then I would pick up an old 19” TV, you can find them everywhere for next to nothing. Then just do a tube swap, that way you know for sure if the tube is bad or if the chassis did take some damage. Good luck.

Everything that I can see tests good continuity-wise
I was under the impression that finding a tube that would work with a specific chassis was hard to do, so nearly any 19" would work?

Yes any tube should work. You just have to use the yoke from the G07 and I would reuse the purity rings from the TV tube. And obviously the neck pins have to mach. The only problem you might run into is the length of the neck. If the new tube has a longer neck the neck board might not reach because the wires from the neck board to the chassis will be too short. And remember when picking a TV, find the one with the darkest screen. Darker screens usually means the tube has a lot more life left in it then a light gray one so you can expect better picture quality and life expectancy. Happy hunting.

Time to go hunting on craigslist, thanks for the help!

Where can I find the often-mentioned G07 troubleshooting flowchart?
Thanks!
-
Nevermind, found it on my own.
For others that are looking, here's all the G07 stuff I could find, some of it is for other models (13", etc..)

Thanks for the flowchart...I had most of the other docs already but never have come across the flowchart.

After poking around a bit, I managed to find another break on the neckboard I missed, for the heater.
So now I have raster, and when I plug in the signal plugs, I can see all 3 colors flying about on the screen, but it seems like I'm having sync problems.
It looks like it's scrolling diaganally..
The board is putting out composite sync, and the wires for the sync line plug seemt o jumper that to two pins on the connector, I'm guessing for horiz and vert sync.
Where should these be plugged in, and how should it be wired?
I have it currently plugged into the 2 left pins out of the 3 above the signal plug looking from the rear..
Any suggestions on how I can get my sync problems fixed?
Thanks!

Oh yeah...you can see the break on that first picture you posted. Good job finding that!

It was in the strangest spot, just above h10, not by the main crack in the board, who knew:-)
Anyhoo, all seems well right now, I had a bad solder joint on the transistor by the sync plug, so everything is firing fine now, though I still need to dig up a capacitor and do the sync mod ( http://www.homearcade.org/BBBB/g07notes.html ) , because I have major curling at the top of the screen.
Other than that, I'm a happy camper, another g07 lives! :)
Thanks all for the help offered, I couldn't have done it w/out ya!

I have had 2 cracked neck board that I have tried to repair. The first went just fine, the second not so good.
The first had a diagonal crack across one of the corners. The crack was about equidistant from an outside corner and the tube socket traces. Jumperd all the traces with some wire and fired it up. Worked great!!
The second was more like your break in that it was diagonal, farther inboard on the board, and it bordered the tube socket. After jumpering everything I did the same thing as you. Continuity check. All was good. I also dabbed on some hot glue to add some stability to the dangling piece since it was so large. Fire it up and no pretty pictures. I want to say it was all washed out white. Its been a while. Anyway, poking around I noticed that things changed if I flexed the neck board a tad. Different colors, different pitch to the HV. My guess was that there was something broken, bent, etc in the neck tube socket. I plan on pulling it off the board fro a look-see under it but have not had the chance as of yet.
