Title: Need Help - or im selling my cab
Post by: diverdown on October 11, 2006, 06:57:25 am
Just when I thought I had got it up and running-----------------  Now I can't see a thing and need help.

This is what I have.  A P111 866 with about 540mb ram ArcadeVGA running XP.  In a 4player cab connected to the arcade monitor via a jpac. At the moment only player 1 and 2 are configured.

i have been able to play most games from mame32, Some from Mala (using mame command) and None from Mamewah - although mamewah shows more games than the other two.

tonight i decided to give mamewah another try and changed the mame.ini file to point to mame32 instead of mame.

Bugger me it worked...... It was so simple......... I played a few games.......... a few didnt work and kicked me back to mamewah...no biggie

THEN    I started Simpsons.

The sync rate on the monitor went schitz. it looks like a sync problem on speed. i could tell the game was running from the colours on the screen but cant make anything out. I exited mamewah. now the refresh rate or sync or whatever is  stuck at this sooper fast screen roll rate. I turned the pc off.............no joy.

What have i done and how do i fix it?

The simpsons plays fine in mame32.
This looks like the screen did when i first plugged in the jpac to the arcadeVGA. It took hours of frustratingly changing the sync settings in windows. i dont know what setting actually worked because each time i tried so many combinations over and over again and eventually after trying the same things one of them worked the tenth time around.

Is it a setting in mamewah........ I seem to recall reading something about mamewah changing monitor settings on exit or something.

i assume i will have to re attach a normal monitor to the PC.such a hassle as I have to drag everything apart.

Any ideas where to start so it wont do it again

Man that's Nuts!

I'm not sure how to get you monitor back, but I'm sure someone else will.

I would stear clear of mame 32 in a cab or via a FE .

Mame32 is great ad piss easy to use from a normal PC.

Anyway what romset do you have?

All you need to do is use the command line version of mame that matched that romset and you should be Flying with MaLa or MameWah or whatever.

I notice you are an Aussie too.  If I can help by posting you a CD of a working setup or something let me know

HANG IN THERE

I can offer the same as I too am an aussie. I really don't see why your having so many issues though. More information is definitely required.

Mame Version?
Rom Set Version?
Mamewah Version?

Cheers,

Brad

Mame 108
i believed all my roms were 108 too
Mamewah - cant remember but whatever it was it was the latest version 1 month ago

Ive just got my grubby hands on a p4 so i think i will format the whole thing and start again.....

i will remove mame32 from the new setup....... I have a feeling there was a setup option somewhere that changed windows video mode to match that of mame ..hmmm or is that in mala or mamewah........... Maybe i edited Simpsons setup in mame32 and checked a box i shouldn't have.

loadman or brad I think a cd with a working version of mame and a frontend may help heaps...........I am starting to reconsider the harsh line on selling the cab..............besides my wife would have a field day. it took me long enough to convince her one (or 2) cabs were a life necessity
